Where Amazing Birth Happens. : Jason Gurney of Ballhype sets up a Google Map that plots the birthplace of every current NBA player.
Shamelessly stolen from TrueHoop.

Well I'll be damned. Here I thought all I had in common with Jake Voskhul was being white, slow, and unathletic. Thanks, nemo!

Not that it is any big deal, but I checked to see where Adam Morrison was born for fun and it lists Wyoming while I thought he was born in Montana (as apparently do the Charlotte Bobcats). So right off the bat I kind of wonder about the accuracy of this little bit of whatever it is.

It's cold in eastern Washington. Ask anyone from Seattle. We have nothing better to do.

Awesome link. Props to Jason Gurney for setting that up.

Great link nemo.

Looks like I share a birthplace with 3 current NBA players, all of whom (unsurprisingly) went to LSU and one of whom broke a chair at my parents house. (Not by smashing it up or anything, he's just a big boy.)

Totally fun

I'd like to see maps for HOFers, All-Stars, and MVPs. It would be interesting to see if there were any (tenuous) correlations.

holden, are you telling me Big Baby broke your parents' chair?

Comment icon posted by yerfatma at 7:49 PM CDT on November 29

Yes, Big Baby broke one of my parents' chairs. He went to high school with my youngest sister. Was over at their house for a party once, sat in a wooden chair out by the pool and -crack!- that was that. All in good fun, though, because he wasn't hurt and it makes for a fun story. Kind of like Ryan Giggs' agent trying to poach Barry Glendenning's girlfriend, right? Ahhhhh, brushes with greatness.

Cool Link. Okay, who's got dibs for the NHL, NFL, and MLB versions?

Except you didn't make nasty comments about your sister. Barry seemed less than impressed with the faithfulness of his ex.

I'm with BoKnows. I'd love to see the same thing for other sports.

Amazing. How tough would it be to do this going back 20 or 30 seasons and get some real statistical significance?
