Stories like this are just so sad. Being almost a decade older than Kennedy, it seems with every passing day to the universe likes to slap me around the head and remind me "Look, mortality!"

Very sad for his wife and son:(

I've never heard of him myself, but when a young athlete collapses and dies like he did at 28 always seems to make people wonder.Condolences to his family and teammates.

I remember drafting Joe Kennedy for my fantasy baseball team in 2001 after he put up some decent numbers in 1999/2000 in the minor leagues. He always seemed just a step away from breaking out and having a good year, but slipped into journeyman status/role after 2004.

His greatest major league performance. A lead-off single and then not another hit (and only one walk) for the rest of the game.

Complete list of players who have pitched for Toronto, Oakland and Tampa Bay in the majors:

Cory Lidle - passed away after 2006 season
Joe Kennedy - passed away after 2007 season
Chad Gaudin - still alive
Mark Guthrie - still alive

Wasn't Lidle largely his own fault? I don't remember it exactly, but didn't he get lost in fog and fly into a building? (in a plane of course).

yes drood, ur right about that. I think Lidle was a descendant of Robert Fulton.
