Steve Nash Wants to Buy Spurs No, not those Spurs -- Tottenham Hotspur in the Premiership. "I'd like to be an owner," he told the New York Times. "It's something I could do for the rest of my life after my little window of popularity dies." Nash, who played soccer in Canada as a youth and has a brother with Football Association experience, is a lifelong fan of the team like his London-born father.

Also, Steve Nash profile that was in the NYT the other day.

Nash should go for it. There is no doubt he would be more loyal than that bald, albeit well dressed, Hobbit in charge of Spurs now. Maybe he can just buy a piece of Spurs and convince the Board to stop feeding Gizmo after midnight? That would help.

Nash and the Red Bulls tried to get a pick-up game going in Central Park earlier this year.

As a Tottenham supporter, I really would like to see Nash pull this off - after he's won an NBA chamionship.

Hey, maybe Nash should talk to Mark Cuban about getting in on the deal. Tottenham Mavericks, anyone?

The last thing someone who loves the game as much as Nash needs -- eventually, there will be a smart piece done on ESPN showing just how he plays with a midfield playmaker's mentality -- is to be on that side, not alongside a dodgy Russian plutocrat, a dodgy Thai ex-PM and the other dodgy characters funnelling money into the Premier League. Not now, anyway. Pick your moment, make the pass.

I know that Steve Nash also helps out with many worthwhile causes. Maybe he could combine his love of football with his charity work, by buying Derby County instead? :-)
