Basketball only schools to leave Big East: The seven Catholic schools that make up the Big East's basketball only schools (Notre Dame not included) are planning to leave the conference. No word yet on what Cincinnati, UConn, and South Florida will do in the wake of the Big East's collapse. Louisville and Rutgers announced their plans to leave the conference earlier this year. Syracuse, Pitt and West Virginia announced their departures last year. The new schools leaving, Marquette, Georgetown, DePaul, St. John's, Villanova, Providence and Seton Hall can avoid conference exit fees as long as they leave as a group.

The Bengals refuse to trade Carson Palmer: the disenfranchised QB has threatened to retire unless he is traded away from the Bengals. Mike Brown, Bengals president and owner refuses to trade Palmer on "principle" and had the following to say about the situation- “Carson signed a contract. He made a commitment. He gave his word,” Brown said. “We relied on his word. We relied on his commitment. We expected him to perform here. He’s going to walk away from his commitment. We aren’t going to reward him for doing it.”

ESPN analyst and former Buffalo Sabre Matthew Barnaby arrested over domestic dispute: Pulling a Jay Mariotti, it looks like Matthew Barnaby will be spending at least one night in jail. Will ESPN continue to have him on the air after this?

He's not that good of a kicker, so this comes as no surprise. I like what Kluwe writes, it's entertaining, but the Vikings ranked pretty low in punting last year.

Columbus Blue Jackets made a bunch of moves at the trade deadline, dealing Derek Dorsett, Derick Brassard, and John Moore to NYR for Marian Gaborik and two D-men prospects.
They also offloaded Steve Mason to the Flyers.

The most abusive coach I had was just someone who screamed at us all the time when I played 7th grade hockey. I was too small to fight back, and I wanted to play so bad I put up with it. If that shit had happened to me when I was 15 or 16 I would have either quit or kicked his ass. It's amazing to me how submissive these players are, but then again they have a college scholarship on the line. I was never in that position so I'm not sure it's fair to judge them for not fighting back. No wonder so many players transferred away.
