Brett picks a coach : But Mariucci isn't even on the Packers interview list. It could be no Mariucci, no Favre in Green Bay.

Brett Farve needs a coach to get on his ass about his mistakes. Mariucci couldn't even do that with a bunch of young, definitly not icons with the Lions. I've said it before, but Marriucci is not a good coach.

Favre and Mariucci have stayed close since he left Green Bay more than a decade ago. When Mariucci was fired on Nov. 28, Favre called him that day.

Mariucci: Hey Brett, listen, do I have to worry about my safety anymore?

Favre: No you don't. I gotta go.

Mariucci: Okay, do you love me?

Favre: (whispers) Yes.

Mariucci: Say it.

Favre: I love you.

Mariucci: Do you?

Favre: Yeah.

Favre needs to just decide whether or not he wants to play football or not, then get on with it. Believe it or not, football WILL go on in Green Bay without him. All this back and forth (even though much of it is media-generated) is going to end up causing people to resent Favre more and more. This decision needs to be what the organization needs to move ahead and into the future, not about what is necessary to milk another (wasted) year out of Brett Favre.

Although Farve is a no doubt HOF, his best years are obviously behind him. I think it would be rediculus to let him have any input in the future coaching. We aren't talking about Shaq or Kobe, this is an old guy (sorry Brett). I love Brett Farve, but this isn't his team anymore. He proved that with his play this year.

You morons need to learn his name it's BRETT FAVRE and he is the greatest qb ever! If Mariucci became their coach & the Packers didn't have the injuries they had this year they would be competing for the championship every year! Also Millen is the one who should've been fired in Detroit.

You must be smoking on cheese or something. Let's see, SuperBowl Rings:Joe Montana 4 Rings, Terry Bradshaw 4 Rings, Troy Aikman 3 Rings, Tom Brady 3 Rings etc.. Hey he's a HOF QB but not the greatest ever. He's not ahead of Elway 2 Rings or even the Best to play for Green Bay; Bart Starr 2 Rings and 2 pre-SB Championships.

Time to face the music in GB. Favre is leaving, get over it.

Trent Dilfer has as many rings as Favre, 1! The only reason to play these games is to win Championships, period. The Greats of this game play for the Ring. The only reason Favre would come back is to add some SB hardware. Anything else is just "feel good" caa-caa.

Besides, He said "Best QB Ever" not Favre is one of the best ever (which he is, as is Marino and Tarkenton with 0 Rings). No "Best QB Ever" is a whole different conversation than merely 1 of the best ever and Championships count in that conversation.

Brett is definately one of the greatest. And you can't go by Superbowl wins. Brett Favre would have won more if you put him on the Patriots when Tom Brady won his Superbowls, or even put him on the Cowboys instead of Aikman and they would have still won those Superbowls.
The quarterback doesn't always win Superbowls, in alot of cases it is a TEAM effort.

Hold the wedding. Early in the season, didn't Farve make noises along the lines of 'if Mike Sherman goes, I go'? Now he hasn't even called him after he was fired and makes it clear he's cool with Mariucci. Fickle boy.

Yes I agree, You can't go by SB Rings if the conversation is 1 of the Greatest, but he said "The Greatest" with only 1 SB Ring Favre isn't "The Greatest" to ever play the game. To say otherwise is an absurdity. Brett Favre is not "The Greatest QB" ever regardless of packerfan4ever's opinion. At least I've provide a criteria of some-sort to make a judgement 1 way or the other. If you think Favre is the "Greatest QB Ever" where's your evidence?

Its time for Brett to retire or at least help a young qb to step into his shoes.
As for coaching I can't think of one that would help this team.

I find it funny that there is that much demand for a coach that was just fired from a 3-13 team. Sure, the Saints had extenuating cirumstances this year, but the fact is that they have been a perenially underacheiving team.

I'm hoping Favre still has another couple seasons in him.

Using Super Bowls as a metric for "greatest QB ever" leaves out Dan Marino and the entire pre-Super Bowl era. Johnny Unitas had one ring and two NFL championships, and he seems to get the most "greatest" talk.

Favre is done! He had his day! If Green Bay can't win without him this year they showed they could win with him. Unless he's got a line he's worthless. How many ints this year. Oh that's right it wasn't his fault someone else through those passes.

Anyone see the Raven's game? That game should have told everyone that Favre was done.

The last Bear's game to avoid sacks he took intentional grounding calls.

Favre is done!

Sorry Packer Fans give it up. Let him retire with some dignity.

He won his last game! Let him go out on an up!

If Favre returns He’ll get hurt, or through more interceptions than this season.

Young from U.T? Granted the kid had an extraordinary performance in the Rose Bowl, and also phenomenal athletic skills, but they just drafted a QB last year. Young could be a great QB, if an NFL team gives him time to learn. He has never played in a pro system and doesn't know how to read coverages. Drafting Young is not the answer. Keeping their players off the IR is.

You Bears fans are a trip. This quarterback has been kicking your teams ass for the last decade, then you have one lucky year in which the rest of the division laid down, and all of a sudden Favre sucks?? You guys give it up. There is no other player that plays with the passion of Favre including your beloved Urlacher. It doesnt even bother Packer fans that the Bears are in the playoffs because everyone knows they will be eliminated in their first game. Favre plus a couple of good, healthy players will put this team back in elite status which scares the hell out of Bear fans and this little run they are having.

SHOCKING that you were a Bear fan. Enjoy it while it lasts. You guys lucked out in drafting Grossman which was just a chess move to keep the Packers from getting him. Maybe you guys can print up some jerseys now with a name other than Payton or Urlacher on the back. You guys have about one week before you can start the "wait till next year" talk...and close your eyes and hope that Favre isn't there when you wake up. We all know the Vikings will suck more than the Bears so it all revolves around one player...#4

How come whenever Favre was pushing towards the end zone this year he would throw an INT? He's so good.

Holmgram made Favre good! He controlled Favre and helped his talent. After Holmgram Favre started the Death spiral. Packers looked good due to a week division.

And this season Lucky for Chicago must be nice to look at the world through those rose colored glasses.

2001 was a lucky season for Chicago 2005 Chicago can actually play football.

Packers are going to start their journey back to the cellar now. They had their moment, and now it's done! Team is falling appart, they need to rebuild. Their GM sucks... ask a Packer's fan.. Maybe Favre can be their coach.

The GM does suck and I believe he had something against Sherman since he replaced half of his duties. He appears to be quite a snake the way he is handling things. As for Favre, he could make any starter a backup if he went on the free market with exception of maybe P. Manning or. Favre's numbers never declined(until this season) after Holmgren left. Perhaps the problem from Holmgren leaving was to the entire franchise - Favre has carried this makeshift group of players for the past seven years.

I would agree Favre does always seem to get sort of a "free" pass when it comes to him making mistakes, but that right there is why I think he is such an awesome player. He has that "it factor". He didn't ask for that so called "free Pass", he is quiet, not a limelight kind of guy, never was, but he somehow by his play, drive, incredible passion ended up with this sort of special "pass card" so to speak when it comes to him making mistakes. How can you be mad at Favre for whatever reason, getting that sort of free pass? It's not like he ever asked for it, the media, if anyone gave that to him. This year especially, the guy had NO TEAM, NADA... this is not an excuse, no starting running back, receiver, hurt center, the list goes on. My other point is do you ever notice the way other nfl players, especially star players act when they see Favre? They know this guy is something very special, you can see the way they act after a game, and its ALWAYS been like that. Other players go out of their way to greet him. Do you also ever notice how no one especially NFL players ever say anything bad about #4. He has that "it" or intangible trait that can't be measured or touched, Fave just has it, and everyone knows it. The guy will be truly missed when he does officially hang it up,..one more year Favre!! Number 4 all the way!!!

I am tired of hearing how Favre forces so many throws, and has so many interceptions. I know when the question comes up about the greatest QB'S EVER, names like Unitas, Montana, Elway come up, also Dan Marino. Did you know that other than Dan Marino having 420 career tds, which ranks #1 all time, he also has 252 career interceptions, a lifetime 86.4% passer rating.
John Elway had 300 career tds, with 226 interceptions, a career 79.9% passer rating. Brett Favre has 396 and hopefully counting career tds, a career 86.00% passer rating and has career 255 interceptions, 29 this year partly because of the "jv" team he had to work with. Favre is 25 td passes away from being # 1 all time!!!, hopefully he will come back for one more year. So Favre's stats, tds, passer rating, INTERCEPTIONS is right in line with Marino, and Elway!! Enough said!! come back #4!!

I honestly can't wait to see if # 4 does decide to come back in 2006, and I truly hope he does, what will all the Favre bashers say if he does end up breaking Dan Marino's 420 career td record? He very well could do it! It is within his reach, even though Favre is not a limelight media guy, he very well could end up # 1 all time! Man!!! Then, where would #4 be all time?, he would have 3 MVP'S, a Super Bowl win (Was in another), possibly most TD'S Ever! What Then? Where would he ultimately fall?? Very Curious!
