Cavs finally succeed. After being burned by Michael Redd, the Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly signed Larry Hughes to a 5 year deal for around $65 million.

Comments

Hughes has been great all-around for a season and a half, but he can't shoot straight. His 43% shooting percentage is probably the worst of the star guards in the league. I think the Cavs would have been better off with Bobby Simmons, a more natural shooter with a career steadily on the rise, instead of Hughes, who only rose in his contract year. Still, this is a huge upgrade over McGinnis or Snow, and this isn't a bad SF/SG combo:

%$@%. I am not an NBA fan, but it was nice seeing the Wizards doing well last season. He'll be hard to replace.

this is what i like to see, too bad we couldn't get ray allen...

I dunno. Hughes seems like a better all-around player than Redd. Maybe Allen as well.

Hughes would probably better than Redd anyways. Even Allen. I mean who would you rather have, a point guard besides Jeff McCinnis or a shooting guard who would have to move to the 3 if LeBron plays the 2. I say Larry Hughes is a good pick, because they were in dire need of a point guard, plain and simple.

Hughes is certainly athletic, and he is going to provide a lot of help in a position that has been manned by Cleveland's streakiest players. LH was pretty impressive from what I saw in the playoffs, he carried the Wizards offense for some long stretches. He's young, quick, and a good building block, but the Cavs still need a bonafide, reliable perimeter shooting threat. I am really excited, however, because there are going to be even more LeBron fast-breaks and freakish dunks - with their combined steals per game, it's going to be a lot harder to complete passes or put the ball on the floor against Cleveland. Now if only Luke Jackson would stay healthy, I see this as a typical starting line-up: 1 - Hughes 2 - Jackson 3 - James 4 - Gooden 5 - Ilgauskas (provided he re-ups, which he probably will) In the hands of a good coaching staff this squad should pull a 4 or 5 seed in the East and finally be a lock for the playoffs.

So you guys think Hughes will play point?

I think he will swing between the 1 and the 2, he'd be an improvement at either position.

Oh yes,the cavs have a shooting I mean point gaurd. All you got is an undersized shooting gaurd. It is better than nothing. Go Bucks

WTF Are we seriously Doing this All the time Now? If so: This Is Just To Say I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox and which you were probably saving for breakfast. Forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold.

Even though receiving the addition of Larry Hughes this season, the cavs are not going anywhere. But out of the 1st round if they can get that far.

hughes was a good sign but if we dont make the playoffs something is def wrong prob the luck of cleveland

i gotta pee

Hughes seems like a better all-around player than Redd. Maybe Allen as well. Bite your tongue!

My fingers were shaking when I typed that.

I'm wearing my Ray Allen throwback jersey and I'm coming to have a "chat".

Does anyone have a more beautiful jump shot than Ray Ray?

Hughes has a great "all-around" game but this does nothing to solve Cleveland's shooting woes. I foresee opposing teams clogging the lane and daring Larry, Luke, Sasha, and "I-love-Ira" to shoot. Ray Allen would have been perfect, but it just wasn't going to happen at $20 mill and 1 year less. But if the Cavs are looking for shooters there are still some names out there: Glenn Robinson, Vladimir Radmanovic, Cuttino Mobley, Kyle Korver, Scott Padgett, etc. William Carlos Williams rocks. Pablo Neruda rocks harder, but after the abortion known as "Patch Adams" every ninny shithead on the block with a goatee was reading butchering "Cien Sonetos de Amor". But, you can't go wrong with Octavio Paz: ''With Eyes Closed" With eyes closed you light up within you are blind stone Night after night I carve you with eyes closed you are frank stone We have become enormous just knowing each other with eyes closed It's even better in the original spanish: Con los ojos cerrados Te iluminas por dentro Eres la piedra ciega Noche a noche te labro Con los ojos cerrados Eres la piedra franca Nos volvemos inmensos Solo por conocernos Con los ojos cerrados
