In High School, my pops gave me a 1979 Mustang II. : But then again my future earning prospects aren't as bright as some others. [This] SUV is outfitted with three televisions and a hookup for computer games. Three televisions in one car is just gauche if you ask me.

There's no way that kid should still have amatuer status. Also, I'm pissed that his car is so much nicer than mine, which is still sitting in my ex-girlfriend's driveway. I should probably do something about that.

So much for the wish to make James' senior year as normal as possible. I do wonder what the payments are for that vehicle, and how they're being made. But there's no law that ma (or ma's family friend -- wink, wink) can't front the scratch for that car. At the end of the day, however, James is going to be in mini-camp before any "violations" are uncovered by gumshoes from any high school regulatory agency. By that time, it's not really going to matter.

How lame! Let the kid have a hummer if he wants a hummer. Oh wait that sounded pretty bad.

No human should be allowed to have those gas guzzling-enviro-destorying tanks, even if they are going to make millions of dollars in 6 months.

Agreed corpse, but unless they pass laws forbidding gas guzzling cars in our lifetime, who really cares what he has or doesn't have. How do you we expect him to get to the stadium when he turns pro?

There are laws against gas-guzzling cars. Fortunately (ahem), SUVs and, thus, Hummers, fall into the "light-truck" category, which has much less stringent requirements. People who drive cars that fall under the requirements are essentially subsidizing SUV and Hummer drivers. Viva la lobby!

I hope he's insured for lost income due to an involuntary manslaughter conviction. Just what the world needs more of: seventeen-year-olds driving light tanks. (I can say shit like that now that I'm over thirty. Grump grump grump.)

I'm all for LeBron getting his freak on while he can. The kid's going to end up in CLEVELAND, for God's sake.

There's no way that kid should still have amatuer status. His mother got a loan to buy the Hummer. What bank in that part of Ohio wouldn't give a loan to the mother of LeBron James? I got a loan for a Suburban making about as much a year as James will soon make per minute. Somehow he seems like a pretty good credit risk. So much for the wish to make James' senior year as normal as possible. An overindulging parent buying a high school senior an excessive car? Seems pretty normal to me. (Well, to some of my friends. I drove a beat-up Dodge Dart.)
