The Knicks Shed Some Cap It looks like the Knicks are trying to dig out of the Isaiah Thomas mess by shedding salary. This is not going to help the Knicks' performance this year. When I watched their game against Boston, Jamal Crawford appeared to be the only player interested in playing.

Kevin Garnett’s greatness awes coach OK, so it was a wonderful achievement for Kevin Garnett last season when the big guy stepped into the Garden, and into local sports lore, by helping lead the Celtics to their 17th NBA championship.

Golden State Warriors give Thunder his walking papers The Oklahoma City people, who in selecting the nickname Thunder showed the same gift for imagination and creativity one finds in a copying machine, usurped the rights to Thunder, the dim steroidal Warrior mascot who fit the franchise like a kidney stone. He did all the standard mascot tricks - the trampoline dunk, the posing like Usain Bolt on a four-day bender, and the throwing out of T-shirts and other bric-a-brac to the customers...sticking Don Nelson's head and upper torso, cigar in his teeth and vodka tonic in his hand, through the bridge cables would be...better.

Ring it up! Celtics crush Lakers for 17th title There were legendary Celtics sitting in the stands, with names like Russell, Havlicek, Heinsohn, Maxwell, Ainge, and White, who could all tell stories about the days when they touched the NBA championship trophy, sprayed champagne on each other, and watched Red Auerbach proudly puff on a victory cigar. After a 22-year wait that included the retirement of Larry Bird, lots of lean years, and the death of Auerbach, the Celtics have new legends named Pierce, Allen, and Garnett, who now can tell their stories about touching the trophy, spraying champagne, and wishing Red were here to witness it.
