Mets' Wagner calls out teammates for ducking media: Outspoken Mets closer Billy Wagner lashed out at truculent teammates Thursday for dodging reporters and ducking "being accountable" by failing to talk to the media. Wagner, who ripped his teammates earlier this season, caused the flap on Thursday when he questioned some players' failure to make themselves available to the media after the team's deflating 1-0 loss to Washington.

Sounds like some guys need to take the bad with the good and they aren't. I have always liked Billy Wagner. I followed him with the Astros. If guys aren't stepping up when it is brought up internally, then throw them under the bus... You big money making guys that think you are above everyone. And then to try to make it a racist thing because it is some latin players... When are we going to give that crap a rest. We will never get rid of racism because to many people want to pull that card for any B.S. reason... Its all going into the crapper folks...

And then to try to make it a racist thing because it is some latin players... Ummm, what?!!? Who made it a racist thing? Since the majority of the players on the Mets are of latin descent and a teammate criticizes the way the team is playing and that player isn't latin, that's not being racist. I'm Puerto Rican and I have absolutely no problem with what Billy Wagner had to say in the direction of Carlos Delgado. It was an honest response that should have been kept in-house but since there doesn't seem to be any realy leaders in that locker room, I'll have Wagner's back on this one.

The Mets internal problems are spoiling what could be a great team. Willie has got to go if they want to win, they collapsed last year and it seems they're doomed again this year. You're right, BI, there are no leaders in that locker room, and it starts with Randolph.

Has this season done a number on Carlos Delgado's reputation?

I would expect that Wagner and Wright would be talking to the media more often just for the fact that are American born players. Foreign players that struggle with English don't make public appearances on English-language TV or radio that often. Of course, this should happen either when the team wins or loses.

Wagner has a point about this particular game. He didn't participate, so why is everyone coming to him for comments? It would be like cornering the bullpen catcher after each game and asking him why the team is sucking so bad.

While I wish no ill-will on any baseball team, as a born and bred Phillies phan I can only look on with glee at the Mets misfortunes. That and taking a couple from the Braves. Seems like Wagner has a big mouth but he does speak the truth. And bring the heat. Enter Sandman.
