"That,": Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said, "was officially heartbreaking." Backstrom knocks in winning goal for wrong team.

I saw the end of that game, qbert (mainly due to Huet being on my fantasy team.) The Caps played a great game and Huet has been playing well since his arrival in Washington. That goal was definitely heart-breaking, and Backstrom seemed to realize his mistake immediately. I feel bad for the guy, if it's any consolation, it was a great goal.

Yeah, that was a weekend that the Caps could've done without. Saturday's game saw them give up two 5 on 3 goals in the waning minutes of the 3rd period and then Sunday's own goal. Not that I'm complaining. This gives the currently red hot Hurricanes more breathing room.

I thought Backstrom's reaction was very weird. He just stayed there and started adjusting his gloves. But there's not much he could do, I guess. Huet and Ovechkin were already lying face to the ground in disgust. This is the worst "own goal" I've ever seen in hockey. Steve Smith's in 1986 had bigger consequences, but it was a fluke play. Backstrom's shooting it in like he would do if he was at the other side of the ice. I feel really bad for him too.

I also saw the goal. I initially thought he scored on his own team but I had to watch it a few times to make sure. Definitely a heartbreaking way to lose a game, especially with only about thirty seconds until the start of overtime. Also, how about that poke check by Evgeni Malkin? That was a great play and helped put the final nail in the coffin.

It looked like there was a sniper in the rafters, the way Ovechkin and Huet dropped to the ice. What a freakin' heartbreaker. Oh, I guess somebody said that already.

This is the worst "own goal" I've ever seen in hockey. Bryan McCabe says hello.

Poor guy.

Bryan McCabe says hello. Thanks, grum. I wanted to see other candidates. I still think Backstrom has this beat. McCabe is at least aiming towards the corner, just (a whole lot of) not enough. Backstrom actually strikes it back to the goal from outside the crease.
