Hurricanes/Senators in Four Player Deal.: Hurricanes send Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore to the Senators for Joe Corvo and Patrick Eaves.

I should add that both Stillman and Commodore are UFAs this coming summer.

Well, this is Ottawa making their move, then. A couple extra guys with experience going deep into the playoffs and a little gas left in the tank is worth the cap hit if it puts them over the top. Corvo's a good defenseman, but the Sens win kind of big here, from where I'm sitting.

Well huh. Hmm. Well. Hmmmmm. Well, at least it's not Olly Saprykin and Tyler Arnason. Yeah, I think this is a good move. Corvo is good but dispensable, and Eaves will become too pricey for what he offers to Ottawa (maybe even an offer-sheet risk this summer?). Stillman and Commodore are two solid depth guys who won't screw around like Muckler's trade-deadline acquisitions from years past. It's just enough of a move to send a message (mainly to the team, I'd say), while not mortgaging the future to high heaven.

I think this is a good move by Ottawa. They have a talented team and these two additions will help their playoff push. Stillman is a skilled player and should be able to greatly enhance Ottawa's chances. Has Ottawa sorted out its goaltending situation yet?

I hope, for Ottawa's sake, that Stillman can find his scoring touch again. He's scored only 8 points since the beginning of this calendar year.

I hope, for Ottawa's sake the sake of Amateur's team in the office hockey pool, that Stillman can find his scoring touch again.
