I expect the Saints to remain in Louisiana, playing either in Baton Rouge or a renewed New Orleans, at least until 5-10 years have passed and the memories of this disaster are less fresh. It would be a PR disaster to take the team away from the people of Louisiana.
Their owner had already mentioned wanting to move permanently to San Antonio, but someone told the nitwit to tone down that sort of talk, at least until the city has a bit of time to recover. I can't help but feel it's still only a year or so down the road. I'd be amazed if they get LSU's huge stadium half full of fans, which never looks good for an NFL team. As far as "potential playoff games," it would sound ridiculous except for the fact last summer all anyone could talk about was how putrid the San Diego Chargers were going to be, and how they may not win a game. Low and hehold, they ended up in the playoffs. That being said, I'm sure Jim Haslett will end up watching (helping) his team fall to pieces at some point in the season.
Thank you very much for picking up on that one Weedy! They only won one game, settle down, down there. I doubt you're going to be in the playoff's
"Us winning football games is going to mean more to the Gulf South relief effort more than money or anything else can do," Benson said. "The one thing they have got is the Saints winning football games." Saints owner Tom Benson spit out this jem today in another article that was pretty much the same as this FPP. I'm not too sure I agree with this one here Tommy boy.
Where are the Saints going to play next year? If they have to take the Superdome down, the Saints are in the same boat again for at least two more years and maybe three.
I would imagine next year all their home games would be played in one stadium. Scheduling will be much easier to plan a year ahead of time for events that big. Hopefully they would be played at LSU, I would like to see them at least stay in the state.
