Yankees All-Star Gil McDougald Dies: Gil McDougald, a versatile All-Star infielder who played on five World Series championship teams with the New York Yankees, has died at age 82. McDougald is remembered for hitting a line drive off the face of Cleveland Indians pitcher Herb Score, causing him to temporarily lose eyesight in one eye. "If Herb loses the sight in his eye, I'm going to quit the game," a distraught said at the time.

I'll always recall his very unusual stance in the batters box. A solid player who helped the team to a few WS titles. RIP Gil.
