Awesome post. Inspired me to look up the superb World Cup Archives site, which includes beautiful posters from past World Cups (sample below). Clicking on each poster takes you to archives for each World Cup, which include photo galleries.

As much as I don't care for soccer, it sure does turn out some of the best still images. Too bad there aren't any cheerleaders.

Love the picture, Rabi, but at that resolution it certainly doesn't say wallpaper to me :) And believe me I tried. I too would love to find some awesome footballing pictures for wallpaper. Anyone know of any hi-res galleries?
