Well, at least I moved up one place this week. At this rate, I should break 800 next week, and catch up to Mossie by the end of the season. Hah!

posted by worldcup2002 at 04:11 PM on December 08, 2003

YES! I actually moved UP a spot this week... I plan to unseat Mossy by the end of January...

Not if you keep scoring fewer points than he does.

Amusingly, I moved up TWO spots this week and one of those was passing Mr. Fucker. Neener neener and don't expect to get passed my boys quite so easily. As long as you don't change strikers, we both have Seabiscuit and Anelka, leaving my hot footed Forlan against your yet to score FSP.

btw, don't get too excited. The table has yet to be updated with points from Sunday's games. So there may be a little reshuffle after tomorrow (or whenever the yahoo people update the thing).

Ohwaitaminute! They have updated it. So I was wrong. This is all you're gonna get this week. Go ahead. You can get excited now. Woohoohoo! I'm #10! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yahoo's incessant need to update standings in the most erratic fashion possible has caused "The Sleeper" to opt for a nap. It would help if my squad wasn't on auto-pilot at this point. But hovering below the Mendoza line as I have, am, and most likely, will remain to be, doesn't help matters. However, such occurances as these are not an excuse for dereliction of duty. I will gladly post next weeks results on Monday, December 15, 2003. Even if Yahoo doesn't have the full pts reported. Have a shit-sandwich Mr. Yahoo. Whoever you are!

Haha, lilnemo! Welcome back! It was getting boring without you. I will be traveling on a secret mission over the next few undefined weeks, so your return is fortuitous.

Beckham: Join me, Ruud. Meanwhile, Roy Keane is nearly begging Sir Alex to add a striker in the Jan. window since ManUre doesn't have as big a squad as Arses or Chelski. Talk about the rich getting richer!

CL or bust baby!!! StarFucker, we need to start a campaign to have you replace GH in the technical area. I mean, can you imagine the headlines?

posted by billsaysthis at 01:27 PM on December 09, 2003

I can see it now: Chairman David Moores has sacked Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier, sighting the teams lack of focus, and tenous position in Champions League qualifying. More shocking than this development is the hiring of relative unknown Star Fooker. Fooker has never professionally coached any squad, on the Club or Collegiate levels. Asked to quallify his hire, Chairman Moores said, "Fooker? Oh. Yes, erm..." and then summarily ran from the press conference. Coach Fooker, having the podium to himself, addressed the media thusly, "I've often commented that Houllier should be sacked. And I was right." That said Fooker blew a raspberry, lit a cigar and left the podium. Houllier: Muppet.

LOL lilnemo! You have a future in the newsfutures biz, sport! Altho, I think, you were guilty of a horrible omission: The Fooker added, "My first actions as manager are to fire Heskey, Murphy and Carragher. I know they play for England's first team but they are still rubbish. In the same vein, I am demoting Kirkland to be Dudek's water- and boot-boy."

Liverpool playing with Murphy and Heskey is like playing with 9 men... Way to go Houllier. I will not be sad to see your sorry ass, talk to yourself on the sidelines, red scarf wearing, have no clue about tactics, ignorant starting lineup, fatass trip out the door...

But it was Heskey who scored for Liverpool! Fooker, we know your views on Houllier and various players, but only Murphy and Heskey were on, and Heskey at least got a goal. Houllier also had seven players out, including Baros, Owen, Kewell, Finnan, Henchoz and Dudek. So, most who were out were strikers. But we still scored! And through your least favorite player Heskey. The real problem was our defense. According to the match report, Southampton were pumping long balls down the center for Ormerod and Beattie to chase, which worked to great effect against Hyppia, Biscan and Hamann. I don't have the benefit of actually watching the game, so given what you saw, and the injured list, who would you have started instead? You play and coach, so I do value your insight into which players, formation and tactics might have been used instead. Do we need new, faster defenders? btw, some old Liverpool greats are starting to publicly voice their dissatisfaction with Houllier.

posted by worldcup2002 at 07:55 PM on December 14, 2003

Yes, yes...typical response from a blind Liverpool supporter... I'm glad you pointed out that you do not watch the matches which only strengthens my point about Heskey and Murphy...but Heskey is not my least favorite Liverpool player. Kirkland takes that spot. Next comes Murphy, THEN Carragher and THEN Heskey. Kirkland because he is an overrated piece of crap with fantasies of being the Number One for England at some time in the future and all the England press cannot stop talking about what a fucking prospect this talentless piece of crap IS! I can't remember who it was but there were two goal line clearances by Liverpool players that kept it from being embarrassing as Kirkland was nowhere to be found! Next its Murphy because the position he plays is such a vital role and he canNOT fill it. I watched the game this Saturday and his incredible lack of skill was apparent to everyone but the announcer. What was amazing was the way the commentator would say, "Another bad pass by Liverpool..." whenever Danny 'The Wonder English Boy' Murphy would either lose the ball or pass it to an opponent...but if Smicer or Riise did the same the commentator would call him by his name... Its little shit like this that really pisses me off...and i don't think most people recognize it. Then there's Carragher...thank the soccer gods for his absence. This pile of steaming crap couldn't engage an opponent if he had 3 legs! Lastly, there is Heskey...I thought for a second when Carragher got injured that there was hope for Liverpool making an actual title challenge. But when Baros was injured in the same game i knew all hope was lost and no matter how much talent was on the bench, Houllier would insist on playing him every fucking game no matter how fucking bad he sucked ass...and believe me, if i had him as a possible striker for my team, he would NOT be starting. I appreciate your comments about my opinion... And if i was manager i would have started Pongolle up front alone with La Tallec, Smicer, Hamann, Gerrard and Diao in the midfield. As far as the back line goes that was as good as it gets with Otsemebor, Biscan, Hyppia and Riise... Otsemebor was a fucking star in that game by the way and there is no reason to bring back Carragher after Finnan gets healthy.

I keep asking you to send me the videos! Thanks for the pointers and alternatives. I'm sad at the lousy results and the season slipping away, but your slamming the same people, while hilarious, is quite predictable, Fooker, but doesn't add much to your argument. However, when you do point out alternative tactics or formations, or explain why a player is worse or better, it's easier to understand (even support) your opinions. And, if Hyppia and Biscan kept getting beaten by runners, why do we keep using them? Do we have other players we should buy? Perhaps, your 4-5-1 formation would actually have plugged up the gap, and left them less exposed. Then again, even if the Reds had won, Houllier would've be lambasted for playing like 2002 and "boring out a win". ;-)

posted by worldcup2002 at 10:12 AM on December 15, 2003

We should have bought Boumsong for defense, for next year at least, but apparently Rangers got him instead.

posted by billsaysthis at 11:06 AM on December 15, 2003

When I say that the backline is as good as it gets its because Finnan and Henchoz are still crocked... Biscan is decent enough...but i would prefer Henchoz...and when Finnan gets healthy they should have him in place of Otsemebor. Otsemebor on the bench and Carragher on loan to Luton Town...if they'll have him.

LOL. You vituperative viper! Well, we've lost Owen at least until the New Year. Looks like only Kewell has a chance of playing this weekend. The transfer window opens in January. Will Houllier buy? Will Houllier sell? Who will it be? I think we need some steel and speed in defence. A couple of Italian central defenders? Maybe he'll get rid of Carragher as part of the exchange. Ho ho ho!

Don't know much about Boumsong... What is he?

posted by StarFucker at 02:32 PM on December 15, 2003

"I keep asking you to send me the videos!" Sorry, i haven't been recording them as i have been able to be at home alot to see them LIVE or whenever they are broadcasted. Friday was my last day at work...i shouldn't have to worry too much about money for a little while as i have a months severance and 20 vacation days i never took which they are paying me for...plus Unemployment should keep me going till i get a new job or buy a business... Why don't you just spring for FSW dude!? Its really worth it.

posted by StarFucker at 02:36 PM on December 15, 2003

Boumsong is a defender. Shoot, I forgot about the impending unemployment, Fooker. I do wish you the best with the job search. As for FSW, I tell you, I think about it every year. But I really can't justify it. I really don't watch TV that much. (But maybe I would if I had the FSW - then I would never get any sleep with all the soccer on the telly.) Well, I hope to watch some over Christmas and the New Year, get caught up on the EPL teams, maybe even watch Liverpool and Heskey and Murphy etc. You may find me cheering your next anti-Houllier rant! Hahaha! btw, what kinda work you lookin' for? Have you tried craigslist Chicago?

WC, you can come down here to watch some footy if you like. Just bring more of your lady's fine Sangria.

TV? Who said anything about watching TV? I have told the morons at ATT that i would be willing to pay for FSW like other people pay for HBO or Showtime if they would just give me that chance...or even just pay for FSW alone. But they don't seem to think that it is viable at this point i guess. Right now i am stuck with paying 55 dollars a month for fucking FSW because i have to pay for the basic digital package along with some other crap package they put together that includes FSW for an extra 5 bucks. Its a fucking ripoff for sure, but dammit, they do give you 5 games a week which is half the Premiership. Sure, some of the games are broadcasted 2-3 days after they have been played but it is still nice to see the games. The expression on my friends faces when they see quality soccer on TV is fucking priceless. We'll be hanging out playing FIFA 2004 or bullshitting about whatever and FSW will put on a replay of ChelseaMan U and the room becomes quite quiet with the wonder of my friends... Its very satisfying to say over and over..."hey, did you fucking notice we haven't seen a god damn commercial for about 20 minutes while watching this game, you ass?!?!" And then watch them sputter and stutter about the lack of goals or whatever bullshit reason they can come up with for the so called absence of "scoring" which they still cannot equate with quality of play in sports...

"or whatever bullshit reason they can come up with for the so called absence of "scoring" which they still cannot equate with quality of play in sports..." They should realize most good chess matches conclude in a stalemate.

Right now i am stuck with paying 55 dollars a month for fucking FSW because i have to pay for the basic digital package SF, this is why I can't justify getting the full pkg. I mean, I'm paying $20 just to get regular network channels (plus a few crappy others). In effect, I'm paying for not having to mess with the TV antenna. I can't see paying another $35 just to get FSW. I mean, on top of my $12.5 mil house and yacht mortgage, jetplane timeshare and maintaining my stable of sports cars.
