Or you could just take that homer shit somewhere it's appreciated, like a Yahoo! chatroom, and leave SportsFilter to people who actually like to talk sports, not pop in and drop a "We rock, you suck" bon mot.
Well, there is no denying Chicago is a great football town, hell, a great sports town period, and the Bears are certainly more pertinant historically than "winning 5 games and a single Super Bowl 20 years ago." The Bears depth is impressive to me, (Griese has always been underrated in my book), I think Lovie Smith has done a great job since becoming the head coach there, their team is playing well in all facets of the game, including special teams, and Grossman's rise has not been entirely unexpected, but is surprising. The next 3 weeks see them face the Cardinals, 49'ers, and Dolphins, and the last 3 weeks of the season they face the Bucs, Lions, and Packers, with Giants, Jets, Pats, Vikes, and Rams in between, so, their schedule is not all that tough. Although it is still very early in the season, if they stay healthy, I can easily see them posting 14 wins and gaining home field advantage for the NFC playoffs. And watch out, then!
Was anyone as impressed by the speed of the Broncos defense as I was last night? Their linebackers are everywhere, their safeties bring the wood, and the corners are very tough.
Alright, As much as it pains me to admit it (being a life-long Packer fan!), Da Bears are a damn fine football team! However, one must temper any excitement about the "Monsters of the Midway" with some reality: 1.) They ain't won nothin yet! 2.) 5-0...sure... however this has been accomplished against mostly the lower tier and bottom feeders (And yes that includes the Pack). While I have no doubt the Bears are headed for the playoffs, they may be another injury to Grossman away from being one and done. Personally, I think I'll wait until they've really accomplished something before proclaiming them as a "Great" team.
Well said R A Mason- they have definetly played against the less talented teams in the league. Lets see when they play some of the better teams. That defense sure looks fierce. And Grossman and the offense are firing on all cylinders. But like R A said, they have been playing lower tier and bottom feeders. Any how they sure look good. Looking forward to when they play my Patriots.
DA' BEARS rule!!! Like Iron Mike said there like the locus they come out every 20 years!!!!
DA, BEARS rule Once again, your making a big deal out of a team thats only into a season that's 5 games old. I don't understand how any Chicago fan can say that they're team rules. Rules WHAT!!! Come next Feb,if they win the Super Bowl, then you can say that. Until then, the only thing they rule is their division......For now that is. Chicago may make the playoffs, but I don't think they'll win the big one in Miami this coming Feb 07.Hell, they may not make it to the NFC Championship game. The season is only 5 games old. Anything can happen. Don't get too excited,or the Bears may end up like a team that just got ousted from an American League Divisional series. And they were supposed to win it all.
Yeah Ghastly1, them ol' Seahawks that Chicago tore up are a 2nd tier team, and everybody scores 40 on Buffalo, right? In other news, Harrington is getting the start for Miami this week. I say that he is not near as bad as he looked in Detroit. Bobby Layne would look crappy there these days.
My apologies mjk, other than the Seahawks. And if you read my article above the last one I wrote I said the Bears are firing on all cylinders on offense. we'll just have to see when next Feb comes.
Yeah Ghastly1, them ol' Seahawks that Chicago tore up are a 2nd tier team I'll give you that the seahawks aren't a second tier team. However, when the Bears played them it was their first week without Alexander in the backfield also. So lets not pretend this was a huge test for the Bears.
I'm pretty sure that Alexander's replacement wasn't the cause of the Bears hanging up 37 on Seattle either, jojomfd1, but you all are right, it is still early. Your Buckeyes are looking tough.
They aren't doing too bad. We'll see that last game of the year can be pretty tough. Thank god we got Tressel. MSU has stopped us a couple of times also when they should not have.
