KG gets his MVP.: The 27-year-old joined Larry Bird as the only players to have averaged at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for five consecutive years.

Garnett gained 1,219 points, including 120 of 123 possible first-place votes, in balloting. Tim Duncan, the San Antonio Spur voted MVP in both 2002 and 2003, was second with 716 points while the Jermaine O'Neal of the Indiana Pacers was third with 523 points.

Damn, I really, really thought Duncan would get it. Sure KG deserves it as much as Tim, but I don't think he's MORE deserving, and you got to dethrone the champ as they say. But I'm sure Duncan will be mollified by the third piece of jewelry he's going to be wearing at the end of this campaign.

No one is going to begrudge the guy this honor, are they? Only Duncan is in his level all-around-wise, he's been working in relative obscurity up in the middle of northern flyover country 2000 miles from Lakerland, and up until this year he's had a YMCA pickup team for a supporting cast (pace, Szczerbiak). His passion and grace are an true example to everyone. I suspect his team is gonna get stomped at some point soon (vito, I agree, I think SA is gonna do it again), but I applaud KG for getting some hardware. Duncan can have it back next year.

Well - it's always good to be able to put a face with a name. And because our community here is so small the meetup opportunities are very limited. But at a recent MeFi meetup in NYC chicobangs was present and photographed for posterity. Hell, no less a personae than Mathowie called him sexy!
