Darryl Strawberry released early from prison.: Another chapter in the already sad story of a fallen baseball star. Apparently, he's been clean longer than he ever has been, but there have also been reports that he was/is suffering from a couple different cancers. Stories like these never seem to end well, but at this point, all you can really hope is he gets what's left of his life together.

I agree. Darryl Stawberry was my first favorite baseball player, and the reason I started to follow the Mets as a kid in the mid 80s. The very first pack of baseball cards I ever got, I opened them up and Straw was the first card beneath the gum. I thought with a name like that, he couldn't lose! At that young age I didn't realize how wrong I would be.

I will always remember sitting in the dentists office when he was traded to the Dodgers. I cried for like 10 minutes. Gooden and Strawberry. What great role models to have as a kid!

I remember seeing Straw while he was playing for the Dodgers. He was great to all of the kids in the hotel seeking his autograph, seemed calm and smiled alot. I remember being very impressed with him as a person.

Gooden and Strawberry. What great role models to have as a kid! Well if you follow Straw's lead you too can get out of jail early. Maybe he's not so bad after all!

Yes, time off for good behavior, what a fine young man! I will always remember Darryl being serenaded by the Red Sox fans in right field for making an error or crucial strikeout or something. Of course he got the last laugh. Hope he is able to stay clean and healthy.

Man, he didn't get the last laugh when he was jeered on the Simpsons. I really feel for the guy, perhaps this is a sign has turned things around. I hope he stays out of trouble.
