Sports Bio

I follow the teams from Dallas-Fort Worth because I grew up with them, but I've adopted the Jacksonville Jaguars, the only pro team my new hometown is ever likely to get. The most memorable sporting event I attended live was game 6 of the NBA Western Conference finals in 1988 at Reunion Arena -- Mavericks vs. Lakers -- when Mark Aguirre and his prodigious caboose received half the game MVP award, and the 17,007 fans in attendance received the other half. I also follow U.S. Soccer, Sheffield Wednesday and Orlando City SC because members of this site dragged me into the beautiful game for the first time since the Dallas Tornado folded.

LeBron Chooses the 76ers: After considering retirement, LeBron James has chosen to sign a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he joins Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown. Philly were last NBA champs in 1983 behind Dr. J and Moses Malone. LeBron's salary is only $4 million a year unless I'm mistaken but he makes $80 million a year in endorsement money so he might be OK financially.

New York Knicks Are NBA Champions: For the first time since 1973, the New York Knicks are the champions of the National Basketball Association. Jalen Brunson scored 45 points as New York erased a 31-15 deficit against the San Antonio Spurs. No lead was safe for the Spurs in these Finals.
