Will there be a new profile page feature? It was fun to keep track of all the fantasy results and read others sport bios. While my number was rather large and my history somewhat short, it is a feature I would like to see back. I also enjoyed the search engine for the archives.

Does the new SportsFilter plan to recreate those features? Curious what's in store.

Good point Hal. But, like the blades of hockey sticks, players can and will tweak their equipment to their own preference. Whether it be the thickness of the handle or the curve of the stick, a piece of equipment that left the warehouse meeting all legal criteria is bound to be 'adjusted' after arrival. Leaving the only fool-proof method of confirmation to the home plate umpire prior to every at-bat.

Although, maybe MLB would go for that. It sure would make the games longer and allow for more ads.

It matters to me because if the players are fine with it, then I don't understand the discussion involving some unspeakable act of ridiculousness put in place by the LPGA. The bottom line for everyone involved is money. Whether it be the LPGA, sponsors or players, they all stand to possibly make more money by having the ability to market their players to the english speaking world. How many players wouldn't want to do commercials for Callaway, Taylor Made or Titleist being shown on US network TV? Very few, if any is my guess. From there the money to be made can easily snowball.

In my eyes, if the non-english speaking players by majority don't mind the rule, and intend to upgrade their international language skills for the sake of success, then I most certainly do not mind either.

And bperk, I also don't have a problem with any of spofi forming an opinion on their own. It just seems that a lot of the comments here are more in reference to asinine newbie statements and not the players response, which does in fact happen to be the subject of the article.

Nice catch JM, but any quote from any player opposed to or not understanding the LPGA's motives would do.

I'd be more willing to watch an offensive explosion then any more injuries caused by flying shrapnel. Most interesting to me is the idea that making a bat out of many pieces of wood will actually prevent the bat from shattering into many pieces of wood.

I don't see where all the hub-bub is coming from. The players quoted in the article didn't really seem to mind the future expectations of the LPGA. Plus, the rule couldn't be enforced until late 2009, so there is plenty of time to learn enough english to appease the sponsors.

There does seem to be a benefit for the players as well. A bigger/happier market for the LPGA = more money/sponsors for the players.

I had always considered martial arts a sport of discipline and mental strength alongside the physical requirements.

He did appear to be okay, as he did quickly jump up and kick the ref and push the judge. So I do believe that he was expecting to continue, he just was using his 60sec injury time. As rcade points out, he didn't quite that that full minute, and if that was the case, it should have the option of review. But he ruined that option when he tried to knock everyone out.

At this point, he should have to face the consequences of his actions, whether it's a full ban or not, you can't just go around kicking refs/judges/umps.
