Women's football in Egypt Decent short report from Al Jazeera on the growth of the women's game in the big African nation.

Amongst all the conservative reactions and so on, biggest surprise was hearing a player actually agreeing with the yellow card he got post match.

I lived in Egypt during the early '90s. The society there is more liberal concerning women than nearly all of the other Arab countries. You can see the sexist attitude of most of the men, but what surprised me was the 2 older men playing backgammon at the coffee shop. They seemed to be all for women's sports. Unfortunately, those groups that somehow feel threatened by the modernization of Egyptian (and other Arab) culture will stop at nothing to throw things back 1,000 years. Let's hope that Egypt continues to progress.

lol. what an idea. that with the israeli men's baseball league.
