Welcome to Edmonton. We have lots of jobs, but nowhere to live. It's funny how booms always catch us unprepared. On the plus side, minimum wage has gone away. Even convenience stores are offering bonuses. On the minus side, rents have almost doubled.
Rent is fucking insane now. Where I live, it was $639 for a crappy two bedroom. Then they jacked it up $20 two years ago. If you want to move in here now, the crappy two bedroom in a shitty part of town miles from anywhere useful is over $1000 a month. Utterly ridiculous.
