MISL Online Journals.: You have to love indoor soccer. I grew up cheering for the Baltimore Blast when very few people cared about the game (actually a lot of people continue to ignore the game). Hear from the players themselves. Think blog.

Is there a Chicago team?

Chicago hasn't had an indoor team since 1988. The first incarnation was the Horizons (80-81), and the second was the Sting (82-88). For a detailed history of Chicago soccer teams, you have to check this out. You can see all of the cities that have had indoor teams at one time or another here.

To me, indoor soccer means the Masters (ie, over-35s) that Sky Sports shows in the summer when there's no proper football on. I'm usually so desperate for football in the off-season that I watch it anyway, despite knowing what a load of crap it is!

I'm usually so desperate for football in the off-season that I watch it anyway, despite knowing what a load of crap it is! Indoor soccer is fun! Granted, it is maybe not the same as watching an regular match, but it has some interesting quirks like being able to play off the boards. I have only been to one professional game, but I had a good time at it. The real good thing about indoor is being able to play in leagues, especially if you live somewhere where the weather sucks rocks (no one really wants to play any sort of sport when it gets over 110 degrees outside. Indoor also has the added benefit of having that whole hockey like sub system. This is real good for a league sport. A few years ago I played in a league, and when I first started I had not played since I was 9. If I would have had to start out running up and down a whole field I would have died. Being able to sub in and out let me learn the game without having my body give out on me. Of course, this doesn't mean that it should be on TV, but if they can show Arena Football on TV, I see no problem with a little bit of Indoor Soccer on the airwaves.
