Arenas Fined for Faking Injury: Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been fined an undisclosed amount by his team after telling reporters he faked an injury before a preseason game. "It's just like dealing with your kids," said coach Flip Saunders. "Your kids make mistakes and you deal with them. It doesn't mean you love them any less."

Arenas is more trouble than he is worth. You can only give a guy the benefit of the doubt so often. Some people just have poor judgment. Everyone doesn't grow out of it.

Is there a better quote than that to sum up the modern role of an NBA coach as a doormat with a clipboard? We've come a long way since the days of Red Auerbach.
