Raptors GM: Chris Bosh 'Checked Out' Last Season: Toronto Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo suggested in a radio interview that Chris Bosh "mentally checked out or, you know, just wasn't quite into it down the stretch, he wasn't the same guy. And I think everybody saw that, just no one wanted to acknowledge it."

Kinda like his new teammate did in the last few Cleveland playoff games last year. This is exactly the reason these guys need each other. With the exception of Wade, James and Bosh seem to be fantastic when things are going good, but possibly not mentally tough enough when the chips are down. They need other top players to lean on if they plan on winning a championship.

Oh man, the NBA has issues. These guys are not playing hard enough. I thought that was obvious in the playoffs, too. Boston and LA's success seemed to primarily come from wanting to win more than the other guys. The way Cleveland and Atlanta just quit, literally just stopped playing to win, was horrible and obvious. Sometimes, that league just doesn't look credible.

This is exactly what the NBA gets when they let the inmates run the prison oops I mean the asylum.

Umm, not to defend Bosh but he would always come to camp all gung ho and then as the season went on, start to dog it. This isn't a one time event but a pattern of his play in Toronto.

I know B.C. is a bit upset at him but it didn't matter what style of play the Raptors played or what kind of talent they put around Bosh, his game never elevated. He kind of reminds of a Sean Elliot. He would get you your 16-20 points a game but you don't want to build around him.

Colangelo and Gilbert remind me of Jon Favreau in Swingers, stuck for six months in post-breakup grief and beating down their friends by talking about it all the time.

That's somehow defending Bosh? Or maybe I'm just misreading it.

How's this for a defense:

It's not his fault that Bosh's agent convinced Colangelo to build a team around the guy. His stats are solid but no one has ever accused him of being a good leader.

I have every confidence he'll be a strong #3 guy, and put up Ho Grant type stats.

graymatters...

Sorry, wasn't totally clear. My point is that this wasn't a last year thing. I watch about 25 Raptors games a year on television he seems to get worn down when things aren't going well. I don't think he quit because of free agency, he is one that losing and adversity take a big toll on and it happens many years in Toronto (except for a couple of years ago when they lost to Orlando in the first round).
