The Art of the Deal - Even though tix were going for face value and lower throughout the week, this guy was able to get a Super Bowl ticket for $100. But that's not even the most amazing part - scroll down to 2:38 p.m. CT. That being said, what's been the best deal you've ever scored before a sporting event?

When trying to pull up comments for the archived posts, it brings up a mefi subdirectory (which leads to a 404) instead of comments.cfm. Not that there's a ton of stuff that's there which isn't on the FP anyway...

Uh oh. I just logged into the ... Uh oh. I just logged into the MLS Fantasy page for the first time since we created the league (and I populated my team) some weeks ago and there is no team there! WTF? Anyone else lose their selections and settings?

European invasion of US this summer! Seven top Euro soccer (football!) teams will be touring several US cities and Toronto in the summer. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United (part-owned by Tampa Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer), Celtic, AC Milan, Roma and Bayern Munich will visit Chicago, Philly, Pittsburgh, NJ (Giants Stadium), Seattle, East Hartford, and Toronto. I've got an easier to read schedule (than the article provides) inside.

Those "??" games are... July 29: Chelsea vs Roma (Heinz Field, Pittsburgh) Aug 2: Chelsea vs Milan (Lincoln Financial Field, Philly) Aug 3: AS Roma vs Liverpool (Giants Stadium, E. Rutherford) Full press release here. (Hopefully I'll be able to work some of these.)
It's a busy football day, ... It's a busy football day, too! Live text commentary for us poor sods at work, or without access to a telly (or FoxSportsWorld here in the US). The Guardian's hilarious humans cover Man U vs Porto and Chelsea v Stuttgart in the Champions League, while the Beeb's robots cover today's solitary EPL match: Middlesborough v Spurs. Since I have fantasy points riding on the last game that's the one I'll be watch ... erm ... reading most.

Since I'm stuck in my own office and I usually listen to music in the afternoon, I decided to plunk down the $4.95 monthly for the UEFA Action Pass. I don't mean to sound like a pitchman, but getting live audio and being able to watch any match from this season's campaign is pretty damn good when all you catch on TV is one match per match week. Every so often you can get a snapshot of play from the Stamford Bridge webcam, which is where I'll be in just over 2 weeks! Woohoo!
Why does Alex Rodriguez wear ... Why does Alex Rodriguez wear #3? And what about Nick Van Exel's #37? And who is the last person to wear Jackie Robinson's #42? All those answers and more.

Freddie Gets Paid Is MLS really doing the right thing by paying a 14 year old who's yet to appear on the field the biggest $$$? According to this report, Adu will get $500k plus performance bonuses followed by Josh Wolff, Landon Donovan and Eddie Pope.

Um, they haven't even said who Adu is going to play for have they? Yes, they have. At the very least, that money is going to get people into the stadiums, so it might be a nice ROI for the MLS.
Rasheed Wallace speaks his mind ... and says the NBA is drafting young players out of high school because they are "dumb and dumber." Wallace also talks about his run-ins with the law and what he feels is his duty as a Portland Blazer. Does this give you any more insight to our dope-smoking friend, or is he still a knob?

This is a cool story about Van Nistelrooy. Maybe I'm a simpleton, but I always enjoy these stories. Makes me think sports stars are still human.

I believe this is the story you were intending to link to? The goal he had against Juventus last night was amazing. He had a lot of supporters from both sides applauding in appreciation (including myself), at least from where I was sitting.
