Douglas' knockout of Tyson still resonates 20 years later : I remember the fight well, I was stationed in the Air Force getting ready to go to work that night. The fight went further than anyone thought it would. Was almost late for duty that night because I wouldn't leave until the final bell

The Costliest Injuries In Sports: Remember when $2.3 million was a hefty annual salary for a player? That's what $28 million man Alex Rodriguez got for his one stint on the 15-day disabled list in May.

NFL Commissioner to take a 20% pay cut

Damn, he might have to start buying his underwear at Wal-Mart like the rest of us working people.

Johnson survives tire debacle at Indianapolis

I watched for about 10 minutets & when I saw Kevin Harvick getting the "lucky dog" & being 15 laps down I didn't bother watch anymore once I realized that the NASCAR officials had taken all racing strategy out of the race. Once the green flag drops, NASCAR need to quit driving the bus and let the drivers drive the cars with the crew chiefs making the decisions.

Finding the Hits, Avoiding the Errors:

Everyone's tried to go uptown on ballpark food. What happened to the good ol days of a luke warm hot dog cooked under a heat lamp and a cold beer

The Day Cool Died

I don't remember who made the original quote. When you score or make a big play, act like you've been there before. That's cool walk off like its just another play.

Using pawns, brawn to nab chess-boxing crown

Let's modify this to include beer bongs & Yaeger Bombs just before entering the ring & promote the sport on college campuses. Now featured on ESPN College Game Day "chess boxing with shots"

What do you get the hockey fan who has everything?

That's almost as cool as the vibrating tabletop football game from the 70's Seriously the ultimate hockey fan gift would have to be the Wayne Gretzky hockey camp where the Great One laces up the skates & joins you on the ice

The Decline of the National League.

The annual who cares game has lost its roots there hasn't been a decent game in 20-30 years. I'll start watching again when you see home plate collisions like Rose & Fossee or Dave Parker throwing to Gary Carter to nail a runner at the plate. The game has turned into a fan favorite with a bunch of overpaid SOB's with the exception of players like Josh Hamilton, but I'm sure he will bring his status up to that level with the way he is playing. I can remember when an all-star bonus meant something to the players & they where excited to go. Now most of them are disgruntled because they don't get their 3 day break with the rest of their team mates.

A fun article about Yankee Stadium from a Boston Globe writer.

I remember Dale Berra playing in pinstripes. Oops I guess the writer meant Yogi. Oh yeah and that time the Beatles rocked that place in the 60's, nevermind that was at Shea. I've never been a Yankee fan but it was still a good article. I will bleed Cardinal red until the day I die

Lecavalier signs 11-year, $85-million extension with Lightning

The average career isn't 11 years. No wonder these idiot owners are whining they don't can't make money. On top of that ticket prices will increase and with gas going up as well, I will put my money in the gas tank & watch a game at home where I can drink 6 beers for $5 instead of 1 & relieve myself in a much cleaner bathroom

First round KO

Go Jose! away! far away!!! Jose quit looking for an additional 15 minutes of fame everytime you do, you expose yourself as the idiot that you really are. Besides, has anyone ever seen a good bench clearing brawl in baseball, all those guys do is hug each other & dance around. Its not like the good ol days when 40-some year old Nolan Ryan landed a good roundhouse to a batter's head that challenged him

Busch wins at Chicagoland as JGR ties series record

Good luck Tony. There has been very little success among owner/drivers. DEI was successful, but Dale Earnhart drove for RCR which is a different senerio and we have all witnessed DEI's slow decline since Dale Sr. passed away. Initially the fans & sponsors will stick by Tony Stewert, but if he doesn't contend like he did with JGR his flame will die out
