Fatal fall at Yosemite shocks climbing world Skinner, a 47-year-old former rodeo cowboy and world-renowned rock climber, fell more than 500 feet to his death Monday after the nylon loop used to attach the climbing rope to his harness broke. The accident has sent shock waves through the climbing community, where Skinner's outgoing nature was almost as legendary as his courage and skill on some of the world's most dangerous rock faces.

NFL suspends Ricky Williams for 2006. And once again the dark cloud rises for all the Joey Harrington fans that said "he just needs a running back."

The Decline of Civilization - Bambino #3? ... Ease up I don't read this columnist consistently enough to have a global opinion of his work, but I thought this was a very well-written article on a piece of this topic that gets irresponsibly blown up (as in the case of the LSU professor) but not often talked about from what I've seen on SpoFi.

unfair advantage or evening the plate, before 02 there was nothing in baseball about using anything. bonds makes what 25 mil or so a year total. who wouldnt extend their career. bonds big mac i guess these guys made living beating out infield hits before the juicing came. no they just hit the bleachers instead of the upper deck? If they did it it was sure fun to watch a bunch of fuckin yuppies in kayaks fighting over balls in the bay.

Turnabout is fair double-play Two weeks ago, Blue Jays infielders Russ Adams and Aaron Hill went into the merchandising business, printing up Brokeback Mound t-shirts featuring new pitching partners Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. Of course, as is bound to happen when you poke fun at someone with ten times your salary, Adams and Hill soon found themselves getting married in an elaborate ceremony which featured a flyover proposal, catered reception, and a decorated SUV. Mitchell to head steroid investigation I have the feeling this is going to get very messy before it is over.

why doesnt baseball save the money its spending investigating nothing and lower ticket prices.you want them to not use drugs eliminate huge salaries. have a cap on ticket prices say $10 for a box seat. players make say no more than $2,000,000 per season. let people be able to afford going to more than one game a year. Beer $7.00 a bottle, $ 4.5 for a hot dog. The pursuit of super saleries fuels this urge not records. when players incomes reach the level they are something is wrong.

Where's Waldo? err, make that Barry... I had heard a rumor (but couldn't find a verifying link, so if anyone can help out, I'd appreciate it) that MLB was not going to recognize Bonds' accomplishment until/unless he passed Aaron. Then I ran across this projection of when HR milestones would be reached by various players...

yankeetogo you need to get ready to worship bonds, after this year sf will let him go free agent and george will scoop him up. why all the fuss about steroids, bonds has never tested positive and if he was using it was when it was not band in baseball. if your trying to say every bonds home run his whole career was because of steroid use your a fool. if he was using that long hed be a superstar of the wwe or wcw. hes the greatest player in modern baseball history but he is an entertainer not role model parents, teachers, are role models. he just performs and gets paid a lot of money nothing more dont exspect it.

U.S. thrown a curve; Cuba cries foul Seems like silly posturing on both sides. If this was a condition of Cuba being allowed to/agreeing to play, they can hardly complain about it after the fact. However, the US should have realized this was a possibilty, and would only make them look bad after the fact.

Mo's Guide to Baseball For those of you who insist athletes be role models, look no further than one of the greatest closers in baseball history.

you want a role model look up ex yankee, padre, pirate, brian boehringer, kid went thru high school and juco with out even having a girl friend. not because he didnt want because he had a dream and made it happen . hard work and dedication. maybe never a super star but an all star in my book . he used to help me paint the gym at meremac for $6 an hour not a pre madoona juco kid but one that had an arm with a 96mph fast ball and a lot of desire.

odds on favorit barry bonds ends career in pinstripes. if he had played his whole career there he would have broke the record 5-6 years a go with that give me right field line and there would not be the controversy. if he breaks aaron in new york the press will forgive him and george would pay him plenty his kind of player anyway

ya i guess this year he will only hit them in the seats instead of in the bay. why does everyone have to look down on this guy like hes a god. hes an entertainer not a role model. no one runs around hollywood or the music industry and holds their feat to the flames get a grip people

49ers Win!!! San Francisco's "victory" over the Oakland Raiders on Friday, in a coin toss to determine the sixth and seventh overall choices in the draft, still felt pretty important to 49ers officials.

There is more than one way to eliminate the Yankees. It becomes an issue where kids are devastated when they find out they are on the Yankees. Many kids actually pray they will not be on the Yankees when the rosters and teams are announced. Heh...

hey its the nhl lets have them use steroids so you can have 300 pounders slamming each other into the boards, hell lets throw in pcp and vodka before games, now that would be something worth paying $100 a ticket and $8 a beer
