ESPN Puts Sports Reporter on Waivers An interview with the Big Lead sports blog has resulted in Jason Whitlock's ban from all ESPN TV shows. "This was inevitable," the outspoken columnist writes. "ESPN does not tolerate criticism. Sportswriters far more distinguished than yours truly -- Tony Kornheiser, John Feinstein and T.J. Simers -- have been banned/suspended for comments perceived to be detrimental to the World Wide Leader."

Andre The Giant With a rowdy New York crowd behind him, giving him the undeniable home court advantage, Andre Agassi pulls off another victory, this time one of the more captivating matches in recent history. If the ailing Agassi can knock of the 112th-ranked B. Becker from Germany, there is the potential for an All-American match, Agassi v. Roddick.

Is Brett hanging them up? The Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre have called a press conference for sometime before noon today. Is this it, and if so, how does Favre come off for retiring during the preseason after five months of indecision?

"Damon has a reputation within baseball clubhouses as being a creepily ardent admirer of his own butt. Finally, despite his remarkable ability to chase down fly balls in center field, he throws about as well as your 11-year-old niece." UCLA Gives Dorrell a quarter million dollar raise. Coming off a 10-2 season is this going to be the year UCLA finally gets some of the respect it deserves? Will they make L.A. a true two football powerhouse season? Oh and Howland got a nice chunk of change too.

Steve Nash: End of an Hair-a Nash takes a set of clippers (no pun intended) to his flowing do. Now, will he be able to play through it, or will it have a Samson-like effect on his game?

ALL OF YOU KNOW! That Nash was not the TRUE MVP! Employee Number 8 in the Forum Blue (purple) and Gold was no question hands down the Real Most Valuable Player. Nash is an OVERACHIEVER POINT BLANK! Look at it from this perspective, if KB8 or LJ23 put up the same numbers that he did, they are UNDERACHIEVERS! and there teams do not make the playoffs either, YA HEARD!...Did Kobe or Lebron play with another all star?.....YEAH YOU KNOW THE DEAL!
USA Basketball Ready to Rebound? After a horrendous sixth-place finish at the World Basketball Championships in 2002 and the bronze medal debacle at the Athens Olympics in 2004, a Team USA housecleaning resulted in a new coach (Mike Krzyzewski), a new team stocked with young talent, and a whole new attitude. Whether it will be enough to reestablish American dominance on the international stage remains to be seen.

The Slam Dunk Contest The NBA's greatest All-star Saturday special finds itself with a defending champ (Atlanta's Josh Smith), a literally 'rising' star (Philly's Andre Iguodala), an unsung rookie (Memphis's Hakim Warrick) and a little man (New York's Nate Robinson). As a fan of the Saturday events (I much prefer these festivities to the actual game), this should be somewhat exciting (hopefully) and not like the contest of 2 years ago when Freddie Jones was basically HANDED the crown.

The Birdman has been flying high. NOKC Forward Chris Anderson has been booted from the NBA for two years for a positive drug test. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, a player may only be tossed out of the league for a first positive drug test if the drug detected is amphetamines, cocaine, LSD, opiates or PCP. This news comes on the day that the Hornets announce they'll remain in OKC for the '06-'07 season, playing a handful of games in New Orleans.
