Recruit: A&M Gives You 'Plenty of Money' "They take care of you down there. I know from my brother they keep your pockets full, give you plenty of money, keep feeding you meals." -- newly signed Texas A&M recruit Terrence McCoy, younger brother of A&M freshman quarterback Jamie McCoy

YING YANG MAFIA HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD! Is this story a shock to anyone? If anyone even has the slightest notion that this doesnt go on, they must live in a cave!

There's no excuse for teams to pass on black coaches When it comes to hiring black head coaches, the NFL stands for No Fair-hiring League. What a disgrace.

If there was ever any proof of that, it has been this offseason. With 10 head-coaching vacancies -- the Oakland Raiders job is still open -- and the feeling that owners were looking for new blood, not retreads, many believed two or three new African-American coaches would be hired. Instead, blacks were shut out. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Interview the BEST candidates, white, black, asian or alien...hire the best OR who you want to hire.......PERIOD!

He will not play in the Super Bowl due to recent injuries...Dislocated Lips and Back Spasms from bending over and kissing Joey Porter and Jerome Bettis' ass! Listen to this jackass try and smooth over his stupid comments (as ordered to do so by Holmgren). It will be a pleasure to this this guy get knocked on his ass play after play and be a non factor in the game!

The media has to love this because the well has run dry, so they will blow it up bigtime. BUT...................... This chump is trash talking? Who in the hell is he....a fourth rate player! Porter WILL shut him up on the fireld. Extra motivation for the Steelers (like they needed it) talking about Bettis. Its like "you can call me names but dont call my momma names". FINAL NOTE...I dont think you should attack an individual on this blog, but when people talk out their ass...its on! BigDog....Rehab or detox may be a good choice! Maybe those football classes for wives. PeytonBacker......What is Peyton doing for the Super Bowl? Ask Peyton if that #55 has washed off his chest yet!!!

The Slam Dunk Contest The NBA's greatest All-star Saturday special finds itself with a defending champ (Atlanta's Josh Smith), a literally 'rising' star (Philly's Andre Iguodala), an unsung rookie (Memphis's Hakim Warrick) and a little man (New York's Nate Robinson). As a fan of the Saturday events (I much prefer these festivities to the actual game), this should be somewhat exciting (hopefully) and not like the contest of 2 years ago when Freddie Jones was basically HANDED the crown.

Is slam dunking supposed to be an art form? Its a bunch of crap, just like the NBA is. Take the 12 best players today and they couldnt carry the jocks of the Lakers or Celtics teams of the 1980's. Screw the NBA! Just my opinion...LIVE WITH IT!

U. of Ill. Appeals to Keep Indian Mascot "This appeal is about the institutional autonomy of NCAA member schools," the university told the executive committee. "It is about flawed rules and process."

posted by irunfromclones at 11:46 AM on January 31

This whole mascot thing is stupid and past the point. I live near Cleveland and everyone with the last name BROWN is pissed off! Also, all elves are picketing outside the Berea facility protesting the old browns mascot. If you are of Indian decent, an animal, an insect, a midget or other..GET OVER IT! I'm Italian and I could give a shit less if a team wanted to be called the Pizza's or the Dagos or Wops. My wifes family is Irish and they arent pissed off at the Celtics or Notre Dame. There are too many things in this world more important than this crap.

Homeowner has 'super' find for a Steelers fan. As a Chicago Bears fan, Bill Stocum has no sentimental attachment to the surprise discovery he made recently. He's hoping some of the Pittsburgh Steelers faithful flocking to Detroit for Super Bowl XL might, however.

I'm an avid collector of both Steeler and Pirates item/autographs, too bad for this guy that the cans arent worth much at all. Only what someone is willing to pay. They have gone on eBay recently for about $20-$30/can.

Carson Palmer blogs his recovery "In terms of my injury, I will be completely ready for the 2006 NFL season and am anxious to get back out on the field with my teammates." He also talks about some details of the recovery process, urges the front office to resign John Kitna, and and avoids mention of how the injury happened. Though this blog is probably vetted by PR people, Palmer doesn't sound bitter, he sounds like a class act.

posted by insomnyuk at 08:32 PM on January 29

Class Act...Probably so! Carson seems like a great guy. But why would he be bitter anyway? It was a clean hit, there is nothing to be bitter about. Hope Carson heals well and comes back to his old form.

'Devil' may be dropped from team name Can there ever be a team name that no one will complain about?

posted by dbt302 at 04:31 PM on January 27

LN...Interesting blog! If you or anyone else have seen a demon or the devil, what does it look like? If you see one again, take his/her/its pic and post it, maybe it doesnt look at all like the Duke Devil! Maybe it looks like Theo Epstein or George Bush! I personally would rather wear a Duke Blue Devils jacket than one that says Christian Fundamentalists because these jerks are real. The world in general has had enough of this bullshit. If someone doesnt like the name on the jacket...DONT WEAR IT, if one doesnt like the team nickname, DONT CHEER FOR THAT TEAM. The "politically correct" crap has gone too far in too many areas. The southern Baptists STILL think that the rock band KISS stands for Knights In Satans Service....what a bunch of assholes! By the way...the earliest origin of the word "POPE" ..... in general means..."keeper of the key"...as in inn keeper of a house of prostitution, sex slavery, and torture. Look it up or ask a Priest!

Bode Miller is at it again Miller has taken the focus off his indiscretions by pointing the cheating finger at Bonds and Armstrong.

This a-hole needs to keep his mouth shut! After all, who is he, a skier? That makes him an athlete? Ya, like being a fisherman. He needs to worry about making the Olympic team, and after he fails miserably, trying to make a living afterward. Amateur says he has pressure.....what pressure? This chump is a nobody. Maybe he should stay wasted. In his defense...we are talking about the "media" who as a group are the biggest assholes on the planet...parasites of sports. Anything to stir the shit and have something to talk about in the easiest profession this side of being a junkman.

DRAFT INFO***Troy was the Steelers 1st round pick (16th overall) in the 2003 draft from USC! What an animal, he's a great fit for the team, but what a fit he would have been along side Mel Blount and Mike Wagner in the 70's!

Artest Finally Dealt to Kings The elements came together Wednesday, and this time they stuck: The Kings sent sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic to the Pacers for Artest in an on-again, off-again deal that's been talked about for months.

posted by ProSam at 10:38 AM on January 26

Bottom line....Artest can help the Kings IF and WHEN he grows up!

Kubiak to Houston Now who does Houston take? He says he likes Carr.

posted by hump9n at 02:28 PM on January 26

Things havent changed, they will still take Bush. The only thing that will be different for Kubiak is that he will be unemployed inside of 2 years. He should have stayed sitting on the cushion in Denver.
