The point I was trying to make by mentioning the autographs is that fans like this girl take the fun out of the game by focusing solely on monetary value.
You really think she is taking the fun out of baseball? A 12 year old girl who legitimately got a ball that was hit into the stands is doing this? How about the Phillies staffer who decided to go make an underhanded trade with a 12 year old girl for a valuable ball, what is it that he was doing?

I'm glad you couldn't... and didn't.

agreed billsaysthis... I'm a Flyers Fan and Lindros should not go in in my book. Bure I could make a case for as he was consistent and always a threat and won some scoring titles. I also think about what they really accomplished while playing, and I don't know that either really did anything to stand out.

holden - I agree I think this is more of an 'atta boy, rather than any kind of salary increase. And its only for player(s) that did a good job for that one game. We have a similar thing here at work where a person who did a good job on a project or an had an innovative idea is given a $50 gift certificate in front of the rest of the team. The $50 isn't that big of a deal, but it's nice to be recognized. For the multimillionaire's in baseball today, I don't see where this fits in. If they can't find a reason to be motivated while making $100,000 or more PER game, then they are in the wrong business.

I wouldn't get too pumped if I was an Eagles fan. The fact that they only beat the Giants by 3 is pretty sad. And even if they do make the bowl, the Pats, Ravens, Colts, Chargers (take your pick) will destroy them. So, Philly, be prepared for some dissapointment of your own. Antwan: Us Philly fans are just happy they made it after a really odd season. The chances of getting anywhere from here on is slim, but its better than a lot of other teams that have already cleaned out there lockers!

Jason Taylor might as well retire now. Yea, I'm sure he will... And end up playing with the Patriots by week 3 of 2007 season...

While not exactly a 'stat' site exactly, hockeydb.com has some great searching features. I love clicking on a player and seeing his history, including college and euro leagues, etc... And each year for that player is clickable so you can see the teams roster for each year.

They'll part ways and he will get on a team next season...

"They call me... the Thorpedo." Even when he's 60 and fat, that line will still totally work. Classic!

All that said, I was disappointed that one of the teams had to win. Chico, I couldn't agree more!!

Its about time... I'm a long-time Flyers fan, and I have been waiting for this day. Neither Clarke of Hitch knows how to manage/coach in the new NHL, and neither has really done anything positive in several years...

Scranton Caught Between New York and Philly
PA also has Pirates (Pittsburgh) and the Cleveland Indians aren't to far off either on the Western edge...
For that matter I know folks near Allentown (Lehigh Valley) that are Mets fans... And Baltimore and DC are closer than Philly for parts of southern PA...
