Why don't I subscribe to Extra Innings? The only thing more ridiculous is Jerry Jones saying teams should be able to break news of trades and such through exclusive deals rather than letting the mainstream media report it.

It sounds like extortion. If you want to see our product, then you better switch to where we tell you. As for myself, I have Dish Network. Didn't subscribe last year, and won't change to dtv.

Tradin' paint over control of DEI Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and his stepmother, Teresa, are locked in a battle for majority ownership of Dale Earnhardt Inc. Could the son end up leaving the race team his father built, and would he be better off if he did? One NASCAR commentator seems to think so.

Who gives a s--t. She's a trophy wife and jr was given everything. I wish the worst for them both.

New England Patriots for having the ground crew bring out the snow blower to clear the field of snow for their field goal kicker. The S.F. Giants ground crew for swamping the first base area to prevent the visiting Dodgers from stealing bases in the '60s.

College Football Rankings - Week 1 Are you ready for some college football? The polls are out. I'm very surprised that Oklahoma is still #5 after having their quarterback tossed for the season.

I'm a USC fan & I don't give a hoot about early polls. It's all about what's happening in Nov. That's when everything shakes out, including the pretenders with SOFT schedules.

Stink-o de Marcho USA goes back to MLB business as usual after stunning loss to Mexico.

Doesn't matter who won last night. I worked the game in a security capacity and the atmosphere was electric the entire game. It had the feel of a World Series Game 7. Throughout the game fans of both teams were into before the first pitch.

'I Won't Retire Until I've Tarnished Every Record In The Book' Barry Bonds expounds on his decision to stick around for a while longer.

Hey Barroid, You've already sullied and tarnished baseball with your 'roid use. As for your kids seeing your name in the record books, they'll know and hear, "ROIDER!! So go crawl under a rock.

Albert Belle Arrested on stalking charges. Albert Belle has always had a dark side but stalking an ex-girlfriend is beyond low.

Come on. Albert only put a GPS system on her car so that he would know where to throw the baseball.

1966 'Glory Road' Miners to visit White House Thank God, no pun intended, the Dungy post was laid to rest. I just wanted to share this link and hopefully get some insight from all the 'Sports Filter' experts out there regarding the following "quote" from said link: It is all in conjunction with the movie and the 40th anniversary of El Paso's most famous team, the 1966 Texas Western Miners -- the team that is widely credited with breaking the color barrier in college athletics. Who else is credited with breaking the color barrier? Lay it on me dudes and dudettes. Peace.

posted by chrisly13 at 09:21 PM on February 17

All I can say is that if the team was from any other state in the union, they would not be going to the White House.

More Falls And Skating Scrapes For NBC's Olympics On Tuesday, "Idol" skated off with a crushing 11.4 rating/29 share to NBC's out-of-the-running 5.6 rating/14 share among adult 18-49 viewers. Even Fox's next show, "House," bested the Olympics with a 7.7/14. Worse still, NBC aired two of its most popular events--ice skating and downhill skiing....Younger viewers prefer, and are more loyal to, their TV shows.

let's face it..since ABC stopped televising the Olympics, the coverage has gone downhill faster than the skiers.

AT&T: Yet another name for Giants ballpark: Delivered. "The San Francisco Giants said Friday their ballpark will be known as AT&T Park beginning March 1." ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. From PacBell Park to SBC Park to AT&T Park. Did anybody really care about the name? What's the best pro ballpark name that's still being used?

posted by worldcup2002 at 01:16 PM on February 04

Here you go...Angels Stadium of Anaheim. That's the name no matter of the team name.

Emmitt Smith: "Vote in Michael Irvin now." Michael Irvin is among the 15 finalists who will be considered for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame when the Hall's Board of Selectors meets in Detroit on Saturday. Irvin is the most controversial of the Cowboy triplets and Smith claims bias could be keeping him out. To that some claim Balderdash!

Michael Ervin does not deserve to be included in the FHOF. If anybody with the least amount of smarts, really disect his career, they will realize that it was only average compared to other more deserving players in the league. Just because he or any other player was a member of the cowboys should not give them automatic inclusion into the FHOF.

This is getting ridiculous Now Nomah's out. Cano and Pettitte have bowed out -- Cano because he knows he'll be on the bench. And anyone who shows up this year and is slighted by their playing time will certainly have second thoughts the next time around. How can this tournament be saved? Someone (Curt Schilling?) suggested having it every four years at the All-Star break. But is breaking up the season for 2-3 weeks reasonable? What about holding it in October, when everyone out of the playoffs is in shape and ready to go?

posted by BullpenPro at 01:11 AM on February 04

How can holding it in October benefit when playoffs & world series is on. The players involved in the post season would not have a chance to participate. The point may be mute anyway for next year due to the fact that in Anaheim at least you have to purchase tix for three days. You cannot purchase for tix for single days.

All the skills and no future Sean Taylor may have sealed the fate of his career with these two new charges against him. It is a shame because he is a great defensive player.

All these athletes in trouble, and it doesn't matter what sport, makes me and probably a majority of the sports public long for the '50s, '60s & 70s when the only time an athlete was in trouble, was because of how many penalties they committed during a game.

It's on Arod edges Ortiz for AL MVP honors

posted by YukonGold at 01:44 PM on November 14

A-Rod deserves to win. I can't see a DH winning when he's only playing half the time, if that. It's like a reliever winning the cy young. A travesty.
