Tim Hardaway, the yin to Jon Amaechi's yang: "First of all I wouldn't want him on my team," said Hardaway. "Second of all, if he was on my team I would really distance myself from him because I don't think that's right and I don't think he should be in the locker room when we're in the locker room."

It is a shame that Jackie Robinson wasn't openly gay. Then we gotten this all out of the way a long time ago. As wrong as I find Mr. Hardaway's opinions,I find it sickeningly refreshing to hear someone actually speak his true feelins, instead of Bald-faced lying to a PC minded public. The one thing that we tend to overlook in this country is--the thing that makes our country the best in the world is that we have the ABSOLUTE right to HATE anyone for no more than the color of their skin, or their religion,or their sexual oriantation.I truly wish that more bigots would speak their mind, for no other reason ,so we would know whom to Deify, and whom to villify.
Hot pajamas! Noah takes the heat off Brewer and Florida goes on to beat the wildcats -- led by Brewer.

The Wildcats shot 3 for 22 from three, and 11 for 21 from the stripe. If they had shot 70 percent from the free throw line and only 25 % from three, they would have won by double digits.Donavon was outcoached and Noah and Horford were virtually shut down. Good Luck Repeting,Billy.
Suspensions Handed Out In lieu of the largest mayham since the Palace in 2004, 6 players got suspended for their roles in an intense fight. Carmelo Anthony got harshest penalty, and will serve 15 games for his actions.

Legally blind woman, 94, bowls a 244. Of course this was her 2nd highest score for the season.

Yanks talk with Tigers about Sheffield Gary Sheffield has resumed his campaign to interfere with the Yankees' plans to trade him, but it's not going to work. In fact, there were indications yesterday the Yankees had made progress toward sending Sheffield to the Detroit Tigers.

Reports out of Chicago had "Uncle Lou"and the Cubbies inquiring about Sheff for left field.I guess that Matt Murton's above 300 BA,and more than decent glove aren't as good as 30 HR's.But I'm afaid that deal would involve Carlos Zambrano wearing pin stipes as well. Not worth the aggrevation CUBBIES.
Leave It to Buckner This time, it’s no mistake: Twenty years after The Error, the unforgivable first baseman and his unlikely new friend Mookie Wilson are cashing in on Sox fans’ pain.

When I was a child,I saw Mickey Mantle drop a fly ball.I,ve seen Albert Pujols make several errors.Al Kaline,Pete Rose,Carl Yastremski, even God forbid,Ozzie Smith--I have seen with my own lyin' eyes make errors.Pretty good company-huh?Much better list to be on than those players who never got to play long enough to "boot" one.
Ex-heavyweight Berbick Dead. Some news reports say he was slashed to death with either hatchet or a machete.

Joe Niekro dies at the age of 61 Not as well know as his brother, Phil, Joe died of a brain aneurysm Friday.

I grew up in Wrigley field in the early to mid-60's,and had many chances to watch the Niekro brothers do their thing. They could beat you with their arms and with their bats as well. The tear in my eye reminds me well of their pitching-----Not a dry ball in the house. Bye Joe,I hope you are "safe at home"
No compromise here! Every year since 1998 (and a few years before that) Ireland and Australia have come together to play International Rules Football, which used to be called Compromise Rules, it is a mixture of Gaelic Football and Australian Football. (Wikipedia) But recently there have been more than a few complaints about this game, and whether or not it is of value to either footballing code, given that neither body of players can really demonstrate what their game is all about. The first match of this year's season is on tomorrow in Galway, Ireland. With the second and final match being played next week in Dublin. Both games look like being sell-outs

Miami, FIU have 31 suspended for role in brawl The fight, shown as it happened in this YouTube clip, marred what was supposed to be the beginning of a rivalry between two schools with players who grew up playing each other on high school fields in South Florida.

Did anybody not see this coming?Miami doesn't field a football team , they field a gang. They have no self-control,and very little control from the coaching staff. They seem to have the Bob Huggins school of recruiting, you know{you can either do your time or join our team}Recruit Thugs and this is what you get.
Tyson could soon return to the ring Looks like Iron Mike could be the headliner in this all-star event. The opening act will be a convicted wife killer.

With 45/40, Alfonso Soriano is in elite company, but can he do it again? This writer seems to think not.

If he never does it again, does he come off the list? What I am saying is---it's a season statistic. There are other "clubs" for homers and stolen bases in a career. That he has even achieved this once in his career is amazing. It seems to me that the only thing holding him back from doing it again,is that it's only been done four times in history, and noone has ever done it twice.
Should male athletes be permitted an extra year of NCAA eligibility if they take a season off for paternity leave? That's the question (and lawsuit) that Kansas University Defensive Tackle Eric Butler is asking of the NCAA and the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals [more inside]

Thank you Stealth, you're absolutely right. But had you taken a year off, would you had a job to return to? If this man wants to be an adult,he has to know that there are hard decisions to be made. You know the rules going in.So-you make your decisions and stick with them.and don't whine about them later. Like it or not-- The NCAA is the governing body of extracuricular activities. And I stess extracuricular. It is not his, mine or anybody's birth-right to play college athletics. In a perfect world,we would all make the team. I'm sorry, but he broke the rules. Now mabe he can set a great example for his newborn,by going too school and getting his degree.

Remember the poignant pics of Keith VanHorn's wife and child, and other wives and children watching their loved one's playing in NCAA games?I don't recall them taking a year off because "they" were pregnant.Maybe I'm a dinosaur, but, when when MY son was born,I was in school, and having to work two jobs.It sure would have been nice to have spent a few more hours a day with my new family, but the next five years or so gave us all a better life. The fact that I had a new family to think of drove me to work harder and better, not to "take a year off"
As my name implies,I am a Tubby fan,but as a long time UK fan{since 1968},the program here in Lex-town is slipping badly. 25 Losses in 2 years is intolerable here.It is now time for a change. Local fans here are hoping for Donavan{Fla},Calipari{Memphis} ,or Pitino{the irony,Louisville}.Any other name {Gillespie,Creen,Few} will be met with a resounding BOO. However,Minnisota is getting a GREAT coach, class act,and the finest example of a human being that I have ever had the pleasure of dining with. His concerns are with the "Student Athlete",his grad-rate is high, and the quality of his recruits is stellar.Unfortunately players with great character do not always translate to victories and national championships.{I give you Joakim Noah, with his chest-pounding,egotism that would not play with Tubby.} These three things I know are true 1-Minnasota will become a very good team 2 the Big Ten will fear Minnasota soon 3The powers that be ,the first chance they get, will set Kentucky and Minnasota on a collision course in the NCAA tournament
