Petrino quits Falcons to take Arkansas job With the season gone to the dogs, Bobby Petrino leaves Atlanta to become head coach of the hogs of Arkansas, quitting just 13 games into a 5 year contract.

I'm just happy to see Arkansas finally has a coach. I'm sick of hearing the media reporting a new done-deal every other day in the coaching search. He is a great college football coach and I hope he stays at Arkansas long enough to do what he needs with the program to give us a good season or three before he sees greener grass over the fence again. If he lasts longer than he did at Louisville I will be pleasantly surprised.

Florida 41, Ohio State 14 The team that many felt should not be there wins in convincing fashion. A bad game by the Buckeyes or an excellent effort from the Gators?

I thought the Gators would win, but not by so much. I thought tOSU would keep it close. Boise State is the only undefeated team and in a way I think the screwed up system that is in place is ripping them off. Then again, I think Florida would destroy them if they were meeting in some sort of playoff. Oh well.

Tressel Skipped Final Coaches' Poll Vote Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel chickened out of voting in the final USA Today football coaches' poll, which is made public, saying he wasn't going to give his next opponent extra incentive. "That's a bunch of sanctimonious bunk," said Texas Tech Coach Mike Leach.

The final Coaches' Poll (Flash) where you can look at each ballot. Didn't see it posted elsewhere, ignore if it was.

Florida Will Face Ohio State in BCS Championship Game Thanks to votes in the non-computer polls, Florida jumped over Michigan to grab the No. 2 spot and a chance to face Ohio State for the national championship. This is the first meeting ever between the storied college football programs.

I figure OS will win, but I would love to see Florida just spank them. I hope USC gets a real beating from Michigan too. Glad Mich didn't get to try again though. LSU is going to absolutely destroy Notre Dame but I guess that will be interesting in a way. And nobody has any sort of claim to the title except the team that wins. Nobody else will even deserve a momentary thought except maybe Boise State, if they win big. Not that they would be likely to beat any of the "big three" this year anyway.

Rutgers upsets Louisville and the BCS standings.

Who said anything about the Sun Belt? Nobody. I said notable one-loss team and specifically mentioned Boise State. They have had a good program off and on for years now and certainly shouldn't be compared to the Sun Belt. They will not make it to the big game no matter what happens, but they would deserve it more than a team that lost to #1 at the very end of the season. They have tried and failed, let someone else have a go. I wouldn't put it past Boise State to knock off someone in one of the BCS bowls if they make it.

USC had the pleasure of playing an Arkansas team with Johnson as quarterback rather than Mustain or Dick and with an injured McFadden. Barring injuries, whatever team ends up playing them in a bowl game will not be so lucky. Unless they completely fall apart and lose to a horrible FSU, Florida will be number two when they go to Atlanta for the SEC championship game. And if the Razorbacks are in the national title discussion at the end of the regular season it will be because they beat Florida there (and LSU along the way). Cal and/or ND will beat USC and West Virginia is going to beat the tar out of Rutgers. And WV simply will not jump over a 1-loss SEC champ. Be it Florida or Arkansas. The UM/OSU loser definitely does not deserve a rematch unless they are the only notable 1-loss team left. An unbeaten Boise State would deserve to go before they would.

Well. Auburn is officially out of the picture. Georgia? Seriously, War Eagle?

One of the best football games I have ever watched if for no other reason than the intensity of the Rutgers fans. It is a shame that even an undefeated Rutgers is unlikely to get to play in the big game.

Joe Pa hurt in Penn State's 13-3 loss. Get well soon Joe. I'm a Michigan fan but seeing a Penn game without you on the sideline just wouldn't feel natural.

Video of the clock being ran out as mentioned above. Creative.
