Her Pride Was Really Hurt I wonder if Michelle Wie would have gotten sick if she was about to make the cut? Wie's latest failed attempt to make the cut in a men's event was cut short when she "withdrew" after nine holes of her second round with "heat exhaustion." "Withdrew" is synonymous with "quit." "Heat exhaustion" is synonymous with "tired of getting my ass kicked and I really don't want to play anymore." I am no doctor, but I bet she would have felt fine if she was about to make the cut.

Earl Woods dies at 74 Earl Woods, father of PGA star Tiger Woods, has died at age 74 after a long battle with cancer. Has any other father ever been more a part of his offsprings' career and fame?

New England Edges Jacksonville The Jacksonville Jaguars outpunted the New England Patriots in the AFC wild-card round Saturday, averaging 41.8 yards to 39.2 yards, but the other 15 statistical categories proved to be the deciding factor in a 28-3 drubbing that set a record for consecutive playoff wins by a team, coach and quarterback.

For Red Sox, Ramirez problem won't go away. Will Renteria? Bernie Williams may have played his last game as a Yankee, and the Astros might not offer Clemens arbitration. Also, John Olerud retires, head intact.

Theo Epstein walks away The boy genius GM of the Boston Red Sox has turned down a three-year, $4.5M contract. This comes despite reports yesterday in the Boston Globe (a paper that owns a 17% stake in the Red Sox) that a deal was done.

WS Ratings suck! Thank you, FOX! Ouch! Was FOX partly to blame for the abyssmal ratings or the two teams competing? You would think the Series would be more compelling considering the history of the two teams, but I guess not.
