Sports Bio

Most memorable event would have to be watching Lou Brock get his 3000th hit back in 1979. Fan of all the St. Louis professional sports teams, especially the Cardinals. Also love college football & basketball.

Sale of Blues to Checketts is off Reportedly Checketts thought the asking price was too much. It now appears the door will be re-opened for other local investors to resume negotiations.

When franchises go bad. The Raiders, Knicks, Blues, and Orioles are the SportingNews' choices for the worst franchises in pro sports.

The Blues???? One terrible year doesn't make them a bad franchise. Checketts, Davidson and new coach Andy Murray have done an admirable job of rebuilding the franchise after former owner Laurie's dismantling job last year. Also, how could the Arizona Cardinals fail to make this list? Here is a franchise that has never been good- not in Chicago, not in St. Louis, not in Arizona. Bill Bidwill HAS to be the worst owner in all of pro sports.

AI to Denver "Iverson, pending NBA officials' approval, will be traded to the Denver Nuggets for a package including guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith and both of Denver's 2007 first-round picks, according to a source with knowledge of the trade talks between the teams." A bright spot amidst a huge mess plaguing the Denver organization?

There aren't enough games/practices for Den to get it together Practices??? We're talkin' bout PRACTICES??We're sittin' here supposed to be talking about a franchise player and we're talking about practice! (sorry- couldn't pass that one up)

Diamondbacks' Webb wins NL Cy Young Brandon Webb's 16 victories are the fewest by a starting pitcher who won the Cy Young Award in a non-strike season.

As a Cardinals fan, I was hoping Carpenter would repeat, but Webb was probably the better choice among a less than stellar field this year.

Tigers, Burning Kind of Bright Has Detroit emerged from two decades of baseball hell?

1968....the year of the pitcher....brings back painful memories for this Cards fan, watching Mickey Lolich outduel Gibby in Game 7. Its been fun watching the Tigers this season- hope the magic lasts another couple months.

people will be lumping him in with all the other horrible picks the Cards have made over the last 80 years or so... I think Don was referring to illustrious 1st rounders such as Steve Pisarkiewicz, Steve Little, Clyde Duncan and Kelly Stouffer. I could go on...these are just a few of the worst. I suffered through Bidwell & George Boone's ineptness every year until Arizona was kind enough to take them away.

Leiter calls it quits One of baseball's best big game pitchers, an enthusiatic competitor, and one of the game's really good guys is moving on.

I've always liked Leiter- a class act for sure. All of a sudden, for some reason, I'm feeling a little queasy about having Benitez on one of my fantasy teams!

Why aren't there any threads about Rafael Palmiero? Maybe because nobody cares about Rafael Palmeiro anymore?

I was also wondering about the difference in Conte's statements. Was he lying in the 60 Minutes interview? Come on. Even by that interview anyone who cared knew Conte was a chameleon- changing his story depending on who he was talking to at the time. My point exactly. So this time we should believe he's really telling the truth.

Until the allegations in this book are actually proven, they don't have any more credibilty than Jose Canseco's. Anybody can write a book, and many do, usually with the intent of making some money. The more spectacular the allegations, the more people buy the book. Not to say that this might not all prove to be true, but until it is, its just somebody else's storyline. Amateur- I was also wondering about the difference in Conte's statements. Was he lying in the 60 Minutes interview? Now my real dilemma- do I try to trade BB from my fantasy team while he still has some value, or stick with him, hoping this will all blow over and he gets me the 30 or so HR's I was hoping for when I got him in the 6th round?

This is just a 'Traffic' situation, right? Or so Marcus Vick says. Were I to be driving while my license was suspended, they'd convict me of driving while suspended AND speeding. Who says these cops aren't contributing to delinquent behavior also? That's what I think, but I'm just a fan of sporting events, and my posts get pulled off this hokey blog.

posted by mrhockey at 03:32 PM on March 06

All the bashing aside, does anyone actually think Marcus will ever get drafted? Two words: Lawrence Phillips 'nuff said.
