It's a little suspicious given that (1) he lied about it, (2) he engaged in risky activity that same day, (3) an ATV injury would have a more negative effect on his career, and (4) other athletes, e.g., Jeff Kent, have lied about injuries for contract, etc. reasons.

I'm not a fan of soccer, but I thought it was extremely bizarre that the Champion of a tournament would have already (on the day they won) failed to qualify for next year's tournament.
