The Birdman has been flying high. NOKC Forward Chris Anderson has been booted from the NBA for two years for a positive drug test. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, a player may only be tossed out of the league for a first positive drug test if the drug detected is amphetamines, cocaine, LSD, opiates or PCP. This news comes on the day that the Hornets announce they'll remain in OKC for the '06-'07 season, playing a handful of games in New Orleans.

Is Reggie Bush #1 draft choice calaber? Reggie Bush is most defenitly one of the biggest names in college football today, although many overlook him to his teamate Matt Lineart who many say will go #1 in the draft, "Reggie Bush is the most dangerous player in college football today", says Stanford coach Buddy Teevens. Best player in the country, chimes in Washington coach Keith Gilbertson." seeing him on sports center in highlights, makes it seem like #1 is how he'll go for the Houston Texans.

Good team or good enough team? The Chicago Bears beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in large part to their stifling defense. Are they a good team though, or are they just good enough with their offense being the enough part?

For the second time in 87 years, the two Sox franchises won back-to-back championships in the same number of games
In 1917, the Chicago White Sox defeated the NY Giants 4 games to 2; in 1918 the Red Sox defeated the Chicago Cubs 4 games to 2. Both teams then endured nearly 9 decades of futility... until tonight, when the Chicago White Sox rode great pitching to a Series Sweep of the Houston Astros, one year after the Red Sox did the same to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Hard-Core Cubs Fan Dies After Sox Win Pennant Two weeks ago, 68-year old Irene Egan conceded to her son that she knew the Sox were doing well. "She's like, 'If them damn Sox go to the World Series, it will be the death of me,'" Allen Grove said. One week later, the Sox did, indeed, seal their first trip to baseball's Fall classic in 46 years. Two days after that, the 68-year-old lifelong Cub fan died.

The Agony of Defeat In a story that will not become an inspirational ESPN movie starring Gene Hackman, a Florida high school has dropped its football program midseason after losing its first six games by a combined score of 299-0. The Doral Academy Firebirds, who returned 13 starters from last year's 0-11 team, still had the toughest part of the schedule to come. During the first six games of this season, they lost 29 out of 45 players with season-ending injuries to their pride.

"I'm sad to see him go."
The Chicago Bulls wanted Eddy Curry to submit to a DNA test to determine whether or not he is genetically predisposed to developing a fatal heart problem (i.e. Hank Gathers, and Reggie Lewis). While testing could potentially save his life, it could also cost him millions of dollars in free agent negotiations. Commissioner Stern is for testing, but the union is against it because of the privacy issues involved, and the fact it could be used as a precedent for DNA testing being used as a bargaining "tool". Curry decided to forego the testing, and opted for a sign and trade with the Knicks.

Spurs win the Finley sweepstakes. ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that Michael Finley has rejected offers by the Suns and Heat and chosen to move straight south down I-35 to San Antonio. I think I just died a little bit inside.

How about those not quite as lovable, not quite as legendary, longtime losers - the White Sox? "The team's futility has no romance, glamour, or meaning. And when they lose, they still can't win—the White Sox aren't even the losingest losers in the Second City."
