She struck out everybody Eleven-year-old Katie Brownell, the only girl on her Little League team, pitched a perfect game by striking out every opposing player, yielding no more than two balls to any batter. And she's batting .714.

Way to goooo girl!! I'm impressed, but I must say this is an empbarrasment for boys everywhere. I would have never let a girl get the best of me, but then again my parents were lobbying to take the competitive nature out of my life. i.e. dodgeball, and smear the queer. The kids are now growing up to be big wimps!!

Goodbye,Reggie Miller.Goodbye,"Miller Time" "It wouldn't have seemed right, especially after the 39-year-old sharpshooter made a teary-eyed retreat to the bench in the final seconds Thursday night."Miller,a miracle maker, always shooting at the absolutely vital moment is now leaving his glamorous career, his enthusiastic basketball career...

personally I would have left that dump they call a state once those hicks burned down my multi million dollar home!!!!! The fans in Indy don't deserve a guy who is a good man off the court ans shows up on it week in and week out. I'm from Indy and would never go back to that inbred cesspool

Avery Johnson's minor meltdown Includes a not-so-subtle dig at Van Gundy's support of Yao and the whole Mark Cuban/moving screen debate. After you click on the link, click on the "Postgame" link after Game 6 under "Series Schedule And Results." Johnson comes on the video at the 6 minute, 20 second mark and starts to lose it a bit at the 7:50 mark. I met Avery years ago and he's a really good guy but completely off-base here by implying his team isn't getting the credit they deserve in the Houston Chronicle. For those who haven't been watching, this has been a great series and I'm sure AA Arena will be rocking tomorrow night for Game 7.

Yeah, I like Avery alot he will fight for his guys. Especially since he's not to far removed from the other end of the bench.

Pat Tillman - Choosing to stay in the war and his legacy. Two great stories this week concerning Pat Tillman on his decision to honor his commitment to the country and the legacy he leaves with a foundation that is doing good works.

Pat Tillman should not be honored anymore than my aunt who was a Fst SGT, and died doing the same damn thing he did. I'm tired of all this grandstanding for one guy who did not folow proper orders and was killed with friendly fire.

With One Swing of the Bat A dispute between two Pony League baseball players in California ended Tuesday with one teen striking the other in the head with an aluminum bat, killing him almost instantly. The attacker was reportedly being teased by victim Jeremy Rourke over losing a game. "The other kid was apparently a very competitive kid who plays very hard. What you call a gamer," said one parent.

posted by rcade at 03:51 PM on April 15

This whole incident never would have came about had the poor deceased sap showed some class and dignity (teasing and mocking opposing player). In saying that the other kid is ultimately at fault for overreacting. The parents are starting to turn some of these kids into animals with no respect for the game, and opposing players. I think the parents need to educate the kids on respect and class. If that would have been expressed he kid would still be here.

Swing and a miss - Sheffield takes a wicked cut... at a fan... who may or may not have punched him whilst collecting a ball in play. It's always something with these guys. And I, for one, welcome it.

Lety's face it the fan was total "white trash" no if and. or buts about it. They you have Mr. Oktoberfest in the polo shirt intentionally throwing a beer on sheff. I don't think these fans fould have toe courage to approach Gary like a man on the streets and act this way!!

Billy Packer Hatred Apparently, hatred of Billy Packer has reached just about every corner of the blogosphere. This is a pretty creative collection of opinions. Unfortunately I think Billy has just gotten too negative and is just flat out wrong too many times.

Bo Jackson was accused of steroids and has decided to file a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper. This is huge news as it serves as the first professional athlete in today's culture to stand up against accusations. The story takes on a life of its own as the newspaper pulls the article and the accuser is a nutritionist with no apparent steroids expertise. After all the Balco and Canseco accusations, this is the first athlete to sue for defamation.

Sue his ass Bo! These media blowhards are getti9ng out of control, and the only way you can fix them is to take what they hold dear. their $$$$$ which is why they continue to go out on limbs to ruin people's lives anyway.

Golf Needs Tiger on Sunday: It seems that the boys over at the Basketblog are trying to make a move into broader coverage of sports. Besides the commentary, the overlying theme of this effort is that despite DiMarco's effort, the sport needs Tiger winning and chasing the ghosts of Nicklaus and Palmer on Sunday. I, for one, am glad that new names are popping up to challenge Woods and that, perhaps, (though fun to watch) we won't see him run away from the pack and take 12 stroke victories in majors going forward.

Hell without Tiger the PGA is just another league where the players are cut out of a cookie cuter mold. Hence there all the same (see Nascar).

Bogut Brillant Look at this list of awards in 2 years of college this from a kid here in Aussieland who struggled to make a state team in u18's. Come on yankees be honest he kicked your asses. Well on the note that Bigut should be No. 1 pick in my bias eyes whats everyones top 5. 1. Bogut - Utah 2. McCants - UNC (could be Sean May instead) 3. Chris Paul - Wake Forest, good size for NBA in my eyes 4.Villanueva - Uconn this guy may 3rd pick I like his moves 5. Chris Taft- Pitt, this guy is my smokey pick he got skills but maybe a little raw could see Felton here instead. other notiable picks/draft steals: JJ Reddick with Duke going out a touch early and having a good season his shooting I think is missed in the NBA and has more to his game that past college shooters i.e Kylie Korver. I think there are a lot of undersized guards in this draft class with Nate Robinson and the 'Ant Squad' from Illi you know those 5'11 - 6'1 guards that don't have great wing span I just think with all this mobile 6'10, 6'6 guys will become guards now so you could see Garcia as a popular choice and may see him play more guard than wing, saying that i see him as a Rip Hamilton type of player it will take a little time to get NBA ready put a great player to come off a screen but does his range hold up.

Bogut will at best be another Reaf Lafrenze. His passing is great, but his low post moves are predictable and slow. There will be no BYU's and Air Force Academy's to play against in the big show!!

Three-pointer is too close for comfort When Illinois chucks up 40 three-pointers in a national championship game, of all things, it screams one thing: the 3-point arc needs to be moved BACK!! Division 1 basketball players are talented, and gaining an extra point on a routine shot has everyone launching away.

yup make it an NBA three. Hell there going to the NBA already why not help the get used to the new depth!

The Survey Says ... Title IX is in Trouble According to Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation and mother of a 13-year-old female jock, the federal government is softening compliance requirements for Title IX, allowing schools to conduct e-mail surveys to determine "insufficient interest among women students to support a particular sport."

I will also say this. Most women's sports do need to be cut out for sake of not bringing the whole women's athletic ship down at some lesser universities..

I enjoy women's March Madness as well, but that is the only sport and time I would ever watch a woman's sport in competition. (well maybe if they were unclothed) but, in saying that I think women as do alot of men build character, and learn life long lesson's thru sports. They would otherwise have no oppeortunity of leaning this worries me because most of these ladies come from very poor backgrounds, and this is pretty much the only way you are going to open their eyes to secondary education, which will also open the doors to (networking) or business opportunities which are to be applied after sports are all said and done.
