The Joy of Six The six worst sports movies ever. "Stumbling around seemingly high on botox, Stallone spends his time mulling over snippets of cod philosophy - "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows, it's a very mean and nasty place" - and comes to the conclusion that, by losing, one can actually become ... wait for it ... a winner". The ensuing comments are lively.

Chicago Bulls fire coach. Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like sudden unemployment.

Why is this so shocking? The EC has been a coaching carousel for a while now and as coach you should entertain the possibility that you're going to get fired if you're team is playing horribly. Yeah, it's sort of assholish timing but it's not like Skiles is on the breadline now. He'll get another job, perhaps with a team that has an owner that will set him up for success. I bet Skiles is dancing a jig.
Kevin Garnett Traded to Celtics ... for Al Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Mark Wahlberg, Ted Kennedy, the ghost of Johnny Most and the guy who ran the snowplow at the Patriots/Dolphins playoff game in 1982.

Funny post, Ricardo, thanks for giving this detached NBA/Pacer fan a good laugh. Great scenario - I can even see the emotional Ainge grabbing a ball and launching it off the ref's face at like Mach 10, thus presenting his forehead with the same backward Spaulding tattoo that Mario Elie must certainly still be sporting to this day... I agree with Weedy that it was a bold stroke. But to me, this trade is like the egotistical guy down the street who goes out on credit and buys the Monster Truck that he can't afford, only to cruise town while trying to get laid as much as possible before the bank comes and repossesses the goods. It'll be a fun ride, but for how long? If I were a Celtics fan I'd certainly have mixed feelings right now. And the fact that Ainge and McHale are trading with each other is really smelly to me, ref scandal or no. Wierd. Wasn't it a full moon last night?
NBA changes ball despite player gripes I don't know what to think of it. It is hard to change tradition but change is good, right?

Shaq is the worst shooter in the history of the planet so I'm sure the people at Spaulding are laughing at his griping, who really cares what he thinks? I don't think the new ball could make him any worse of a shooter or ball-handler. And he's had his way his whole career with the refs so to me it's like the universe is finally balancing things out. Karma can be a bitch, Shaq.
T.O. Reportedly Attempted Suicide although ESPN is citing an adverse reaction to painkillers as the reason for his being hospitalized.

This is just the media looking for a story. I'm surprised that Terrell was as coherent as he was at the press conference (actually I thought he was pretty sharp) even on "two or three" of those generic Vicodins... No way he took all of those pills... The only thing that doesn't add up is this Etheridge chick and her conflicting statements... I definitely not a fan of T.O. or a T.O. apologist, but his past prima donna behavior probably led to the media jumping to conclusions on this one...
Serving Larry Bird too bad he wasn't number 15.

Breaking Away, Raging Bull and Bad News Bears are all classics. Three of my favorites, definitely. But what about Victory? You get Pele and prison-break for the price of one. Major League 2 is just terrible.
