SportsFilter: The Thursday Huddle

I too, saw the live feed that JJ discussed, it was available through masters.com, a really great thing. As an aside, I also got the app for my phone and was able to watch what I would have missed when I was traveling to dinner (by train). Steve Flesh was quite foul-mouthed, seemed he wants to be the the new Steve Pate, aka Volcano. As far as the cursing on the course goes I don't mind it. Tiger gets picked up cursing more because he is on TV more than any of the other pros. Case in point, while K.J. Choi was working his way to the penultimate group on Sunday, how many shots of his did we see on Saturday? I'm around golf daily, and most golfers would make a sailor blush, so I don't find it offensive when these guys get picked up cussing at a bad shot. To any of you that play, I bet you have spilled a few cusses in the course of a round. It's a hard f@#$%&g game.

Lifetime ban from Dominican Winter baseball for Offerman

Oh man great SNL reference @ wfrazerjr. Offerman should be doing jail time at this point, wielding a bat as a weapon now actual assault and battery. At least some anger management is in line.

Belichick Call Questioned in Pats' Loss to Colts

Here is a point that I think needs to be made, they should have let Addai score with around 1:11 left he got down to to the two and was tackled. This is in sharp contrast to the Jones-Drew play where he wisely went down short of the goal line to allow the clock to run down. I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned here and wonder what you all think.

Jean Todt wins FIA presidency

Drood- I happen to agree with you. Maybe Toady will surprise me, but I doubt it.

Rumple- Thanks for the advice. I tried the link button but it didn't show up. Wonder if it is a Mac issue. I don't want to over hype the issue but just thought some might like to read the article, came from a non-sport source as well so just wanted some to see it. If others think it is worthy of a FPP I am all for it.

Not sure if it is worthy of a full post as it has been covered somewhat on this site. This article disturbed me to no end. The NFL's treatment of veterans and their dismissal of the science here is unconscionable. *Edit- don't know what happened but the link did not come out in the post. http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=content_10980 I guess you can copy and paste.

FIA makes mockery of Formula One

Wish I could say I was surprised by this "decision", but I am not. One month left of Max and hopefully Bernie is out soon after. The election for Max's position will be interesting. I hope Vatanen wins it, Todt will be more of the same. But the best interests of Max were met first then the sport came second.

Extra Time

Seems to me there is a simple answer to this, novel as it may be, stop the clock for injuries and after goals.

SportsFilter: The Monday Huddle

Yes the third was a fluke. I never said his week 1 was bad. I said I was disappointed and worried when they faced a better team on defense not in transition from one system to another. You can't argue with the numbers from week 1. I just said that it was over-hyped because they played against a bad team. He cost the team the game last night and admitted to it, for once. This is a no excuses year for Romo. *edit* well yes I did say bad week here, frustration from losing a game the Cowboys should have won
*Upon further review* I re-read my post from last week and said I was disappointed in Romo's week 1 performance and did not elaborate on it as much as would have liked, time constraints. I saw signs of bad things to come against better competition was my point last week and it came to fruition last night.

Debo that is an excellent point about the QB. The stadium was quite amazing. I was criticized for saying Romo had a bad week in the opener. I saw some bad passes he threw last week that he got away with against Tampa. Those same type of passes he didn't get away with against the Giants. Funny how everyone says the Cowboys dominated the game. It is the W that counts. Speaking of W. he was sitting with Madden, no wonder there is a Madden curse and W. looked old. Have a good Monday all.

FIA knew of Renault's race fixing last year

Drood, I feel for you. I have been equally upset with the "sport" of late. Surprised, hell no. Afterall it is the Max and Bernie show. What do you expect when the leaders of F1 are as corrupt as they are. I was really hoping the breakaway would happen to get away from Max and Bernie. Had they broken away CVC, whomever they are, would have sacked Bernie. Good analogy about Ferrari, stabbing you right in the chest.

I don't feel bad for Flavio, he has always been scum in my eyes. He is a team principle yet he represents drivers on other teams, a severe conflict of interest. I hope he gets a lifetime ban. Seems it must have been him who leaked the story of Max and the Nazi hookers and this is Max's revenge.

On the other hand I have always regarded Pat Symonds as a "good guy." I think he is falling on a sword to save the company. I think he participated at the request of Flavio or the orders thereof. I can see Flav saying if we don't get a win Renault are pulling the plug.

I think a lifetime ban for Renault is too harsh. I say that realizing that Renault are an engine supplier to a couple of teams and were going to expand supplying engines to more teams next year. Any penalties against them and I feel Mr. Ghosn will pull the plug at least on the team itself. That would lead to some issues for teams for next year if Renault would not be allowed to be an engine supplier. What the right penalty is I've no idea. Flavio banned for life would be a start. Those with complicit knowledge should be as well, that means Piquet, Jr. and unfortunately Pat Symonds. If they can prove that people inside Renault knew of it as well then they should get the ban as well.

On a positive note, Drood I've heard and read that Montreal have gotten the race back. I hope so, love the race there and also North America needs a race. Max is out and Bernie can't live forever so there is hope for F1.

eccsport- haven't seen it officially announced but I think it is a done deal with Alonso to Ferrari.

This is not going to be popular here, but I was actually disappointed in the play of Tony Romo yesterday. He was off with his throws early and made some questionable decisions and now is saying he is hurt. His stats were good, based on a couple of blown coverages and a good play here and there. I worry when they play a team not in transition on defense.
