Belgian cyclist dies in Giro D'Italia crash

So tragic. The descent are exciting and terrifying in racing. Always freaks me out when someone falls on one. But I've been reading things from people who think the sport needs to make it more safe, i.e. better helmets. Obviously that wouldn't have helped here since he landed on his face (from what I saw on cycling tv last night). I don't know how it could be made safer. They are already required to wear helmets the entire race.

Jim Tressel Strikes a Pose

That is goddamn hilarious. He can't even be bothered to look up? Wow.

Or maybe the photographer could wait until Tressel finished with the autograph and then take the photo.

Study: Stretching Does Not Prevent Running Injuries

I was taught not to do any form of exercise with cold muscles. You need to warm them up in order to prevent injuries and that included stretching (whatever that definition is). Jogging in place, walking at a quick pace for several minutest to warm the muscles. Once you do that, then stretching exercises can be done. If you have ever done an aerobics class or even yoga, you start with a warm-up and then do the exercise and then a cool-down.

Terry Bradshaw Rips Into Today's NFL Stars

I think he's upset because today's players don't know who he is!!! He isn't completely wrong, but he comes across as being whiny and "back in my day" when he had to walk to the stadium in the deep snow up a big hill.

Fans Brawl at US Open Match

No comments on why the young guy was drunk at a tennis match? Nobody goes to a tennis match and drinks beer like that were at a football/baseball game! Maybe he was upset because he figured out that he was at the wrong game!!

Hey wfrazerjr, you can sit by me at any game and defend my honor anytime. Obviously, there are not enough guys out there that would because they are afraid if someone was carrying. My boys are raised that you defend the people that cannot or won't defend themselves.

We don't know what happened before the video. How long was this dope harrassing these people and others around them? Maybe he provoked them for a long time and they had had enough. And I believe it was said that he told her to slap him if she was so annoyed by his mouth. I don't know that I could do that, but really, I'm glad they smacked him around. Bullies need to be put in their place and taught that people aren't going to put up with their crap anymore. Enough is enough. We have become so complacent with rude behavior because we don't want to hurt someone's feelings or we are afraid of what they may do to us. Oh for crying out loud!

Tiger Woods sorry, admits all: 'I had affairs. I cheated'

Yes, it was scripted. Yes, it was staged. Was he sincere? As much as he could be with cameras, lights and a mike. Thank God he didn't act like the televangelists who got caught and "broke down" on camera and begged our forgiveness (talk about scripted and staged). I have to agree with the feminist article that it was part of his therapy and 12-step program (or similar at least). And I'm glad he didn't allow questions. Most of the reporters would have asked stupid questions anyway. What I love is a couple of his bimbos upset that he never apologized to them! Geesh.

BCS under scrutiny from Capitol Hill

Just for clarification: the DOJ is involved with the economy if there is illegal activity going on (corruption, embezzlement, white collar crimes). The DOJ is involved in the wars. There are agents over there interviewing detainees, investigations and training police officers. And yes I do know this personally. And yes, they do get involved when it concerns anti-trust cases, such as this one.

Favre, Viking defense rough up Romo, Cowboys 34-3

I'm sorry, but isn't football a competitive game? When did we decide that just because one team is creaming the other, that they should stop playing hard and be "fair?" Wasn't it Dallas's job to stop the Vikings' offense? Let's put it this way, if Favre got hurt and was taken out of the game, should Dallas have taken it easy on them? No. And the analogy that it was like a big kid punching some little kid is off-based. It wasn't a pro team playing a college team. Grow up Brooking.

E-mails in support of Mike Leach

Can someone tell me if there was ever medical proof that James had a concussion? In the articles I've read, it is never mentioned (or I don't remember) whether Leach was presented with proof.

Like It or Not, Caldwell Sticks to His Plan for Colts

Grum, I didn't watch the game either so I can't answer you. To me it just doesn't make sense to pull your top players when you are only up by 5 in the 3rd quarter? I understand you don't want injuries going into the playoffs, but..... somebody help this make sense to me.

Urban Meyer Quits as Florida Coach

Nice to know that he is willing to give up football for his health and family. I wish him well and wonder how this will affect the Gators for their bowl game and next season.

BYU Upsets Oklahoma After Sam Bradford Injures Shoulder

OU's offensive line does need some work. They're young and they'll get it together. I think Jones did the best he could considering he doesn't get much game playing time. Stoops needs to play his backups in games instead of running up the scoreboard trying (and succeeding) in getting his quarterback the Heisman.

1987 Kentucky Derby Winner Alysheba Euthanized

rcade, thanks for the video link. I had forgotten how close that race was. I have a trip planned to Kentucky this summer with my daughter, who is a huge horse lover. It's a shame that he won't be there. RIP Alysheba.
