NASCAR Rookie Survives Unbelievable Crash NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Michael McDowell tested the new safety features in the Car of Tomorrow yesterday during qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway, slamming into a Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier at more than 100 mph and rolling eight times (see the video). "That was the hardest hit I think I've ever seen anybody take," driver Tony Stewart said.

You know, it seems to be a trend lately among "superstar" athletes, with this type of behavior. I have two boys 7 and 8 who are sports fanatics, and when they see something like this on ESPN they have all kinds of questions. It saddens me as a father, and as a fan when someone with a gift, goes out and shows a lack of respect and judgment like this. Hopefully he can get his act together, and be a positive role model....

Indiana set to hire Crean as hoops coach Indiana University will hire Marquette's Tom Crean as its basketball coach and is expected to introduce him at a news conference Wednesday. The hiring comes near the end of a tumultuous six-week period in which former Hoosiers coach Kelvin Sampson resigned amid an NCAA scandal, interim coach Dan Dakich replaced him and then lost four of seven games. Barry Bonds signs with Yankees!
The New York Yankees have pulled out all the stops to win this season and have signed Barry Bonds to act as their DH. This comes on the heels of Jason Giambi being diagnosed with another stomach tumour (his first one was in 2004). Bonds is expected to practice with their Florida State League team for a couple of weeks before being called up to the majors. The terms of his contract are currently unavailable.

A good time for him to hang it up. I remember back in '89, and '90 when my high school alma mater was @ Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor for the Michigan High School Basketball Final Four Tourney, Detroit Country Day played their game before ours, and watching C-Webb run the floor, play after play taking it to the rack. I will never forget that day....

Yes I agree, his pumpkinhead has swelled to gigantic proportions, but he would put fans in the seats of any stadium he walked into. I feel his defense has diminished over the years, I also feel he would be a favorable DH for most American League clubs.....yet, it doesn't hide his past in any event.
NCAA tourney is the best, but it could be even better. The NCAA tournament is the best three-plus weeks of hoops, maybe of anything, on the planet. But that doesn't mean it's perfect. It isn't.
