SportsFilter cited on ask.yahoo.com Part of JJ's comment was quoted in a question about why, in baseball, it's called an inning. No, it wasn't the Eddie Izzard line that was quoted.

Top of the World! Garnett has since left his losing ways behind and helped engineer the biggest turnaround in NBA history, turning the Celtics from a laughingstock to a champion. Tuesday night, it became clear that—just like losing did—winning has made Kevin Garnett completely insane.

Tafoya worked at WCCO, a Minneapolis station, as a sports reporter for several years and also worked at Midwest Sports Channel (which eventually became Fox Sports North) as a sideline reporter for Timberwolves broadcasts, so Garnett and Tafoya have known each other for quite awhile. That might explain away some of the "casualness" going on in the interview.

The Curious Case of Willis' Baltimore-time
What made it strange was that the Ravens, of any team, should have seen how fungible running back performance was. After drafting Lewis in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft, the Ravens allowed him to start while benching their previous starter, Priest Holmes. Holmes served as Lewis’ backup before departing for Kansas City, where he put up several historic seasons as part of the offensive juggernaut there. Holmes’ replacement as Lewis’ backup was Chester Taylor, who then departed for Minnesota after his rookie contract expired and proceeded to put up a 1216-yard season.

But anyone looking at the math of the Baltimore Ravens offense has a stronger constitution than I do. I agree. I thought it was impossible to divide by zero.

"Ninety percent of putts that are short don't go in." A collection of the dumb sport quotes.

It doesn't have my two favorite sports quotes: "Seventy-five percent of the earth is covered by water. The rest is covered by Smoot." -- Fred Smoot "You need two yards, I'll get you three. You need ten yards, I'll get you three." -- Leroy Hoard

Ichiro takes round-trip to All-Star history. MVP Ichiro Suzuki hits the first inside-the-park home run in All-Star Game history.

I'm no great baseball mind, but Ichiro would definitely be in my top five active players.

St. Peter is a town of about 10,000 people, actually, and it's twelve miles from St. Peter to Mankato, not ten. I haven't lived their since 2nd grade in 1982 and even I know this. :)

The Curse of the Orlando Magic "I don't have any pain." -- Grant Hill, who begins the final year of his seven-year, $93 million contract when the Orlando Magic begin training camp in Jacksonville. Injuries have kept Hill out of 73 percent of the team's games.

Actually, it was Chucky Atkins involved in the Hill/Wallace trade, not Billups.

Great link, thanks. My favorite part: Williams walked off the field lugging behind him that unsightly 0 for 13 -- which remains an all-time record for single-game futility -- and headed for the clubhouse for a well-deserved beer. "But we had this guy, Mark Corey, who had gotten taken out of the game in about the 13th inning," Williams said. "And when we got back to the clubhouse, all the beer was gone and [Corey] was hammered. I mean, hammered."

Twins to have a weekend celebration of the 1965 World Series Team It will be a bittersweet 40th Reunion as some of the more popular member of the team have passed. Earl Battey and Bobby Allison are among those who will be missed. It was a great series agfainst the Dodgers. One that went 7 games. If today's media coverage were around back then, this series would have gone down as one of the all time best. Allison's game saving catch and Koufax pithcing game 7 on 2 days rest, are just two of the highlights.

I agree there wasn't much chance of him making a playoff, it smells just a bit of Randy Moss walking off the field with two seconds left last year. Yeah, there wasn't much of a chance, but still.

It did cross my mind reading the article that it'd be easy for him to take his name off the ballot since there's a slim chance of him getting in anyway. I think Blyleven should definitely be in.
