The mighty hath fallen: Novak Djokovic knocks out Roger Federer in a straight-sets victory in the Australian Open semis.

I agree that that Tsonga is like Agassi is he playing tennis of historical proportions, Djokovic himself is of the next genration of legends (like Federer and Nadal, so who succeeded Agassi and his group), you are that Tsonga will win? Or that he will not, but he certainly deserves to win. Melbourne has given tennis its best. It gave us the 2006, 2007, and 2008 epics involving Baghdatis, incuding his 06 run to the final. It also gave us the best match ever: El Aynaoui vs Roddick. Could Djokovic vs Tsonga be the best ever?

Patriots advance to their 4th Superbowl in 7 years. Despite his second worst QB rating of the season, Tom Brady and the Patriots advance to the Superbowl thanks to a second half running game and a defense that held the Chargers to only 4 field goals on the afternoon. The Patriots take their 17-1 unprecedented 18-0 record to Arizona in two weeks, facing the Ravens winner of the Packers/Giants game, in the hopes of completing a truly historic season.

bravo, they played well, but they have a lot of questions to answer and lot of knots to untie if they want to win it all

Giants down Cowboys 21-17: in the day's second upset, the fifth-seeded Giants defeated the top-seed Cowboys in Dallas.

I think people should lay off Jessica. They lost the game. If the weather is good, they can beat GB, although I honestly believe GB will win and advance. I think SD vs. GB for the SB is good, but it wuld be a home game for the Chargers. However, that town deserves Lombardi's trophy, even though Spanos will then not be able to move from SD, which he highly desires.

Rolen for Glaus? Rolen has a simmering feud with manager Tony La Russa, one that has become increasingly public since La Russa agreed to a two-year deal to return to the Cardinals. Rolen has remained mum publicly, though La Russa has described an environment where one player said he would prefer La Russa not return to the club. That player: Rolen.

posted by BoKnows at 03:52 PM on January 12

You see Rolen has lot of prid and I doubt it would allow himt o go to Toronto, which peopl look down at. However, Rolen is a great player. Glaus got a ring with the Angels, but he really was not a part of the ing. He got that ring for playing for a losing franchise throughout the late 90's and early 00's, the prime of his career, when people thought he was the next Hank Aaron. He then went to Phoenix, he did not make them a winner, went to Toronto, same result. This is good for the Jays, but the Cardinals will be sorry.

Clemens Files Defamation Suit Roger Clemens beat Brian McNamee to court, filing a defamation suit against the former trainer who claimed to have injected him with performance-enhancing drugs.

This is the public disgrace of Roger Clemens we see. He is heading to where we see Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Giants top Buccaneers, Chargers defeat Titans.

I can not believe it took 14 years and a flood, and it was a real show by Mother Nature in SD and Southern California here today, for the Chargers to win a game. I guess they will always need a flood to win a playoff game. This is hard. They should move to Portland.

Barry Bonds indicted on perjury, obstruction charges

posted by kirkaracha at 04:26 PM on November 16

This is terrible. This is a person going to jail. This is gravedancing. I think the worst thing is he is being deprived from playing for the Angels or Yanks, and depriving him of a well deserved ring (though not with NYY, they stink).

Report: Dodgers hire Torre as manager; Little fired It seems pretty certain now that it is true. Don Mattingly, Tony Pena, Rob Thomson and Kevin Long will be coaches. The 2008 Los Angeles Dodgers look a whole more interesting now than they did this morning.

The worst part for Grady is he will likely be unemployed next season. As for A Rod, I read somewhere that both he and Mo Rivera will likely consder Torre's new digs at Chavez Ravine in their decision.

Torre Leaving New York After Turning Down Incentive-Linked Contract New York Yankees manager Joe Torre rejected a contract that would cut his base salary from $7.5 million to $5 million and add $1 million for reaching the playoffs, $1 million for reaching the ALCS and $1 million for a World Series berth. "It's now time for the New York Yankees to move forward," said team president Randy Levine.

Nebraska Fires Athletic Director Steve Pederson The Cornhuskers' worst home loss since 1958 was the last straw. The AD since 2002, Pederson was fired only three months after the school extended his contract through June 2013. "You make the best decision you can with the information you have," Chancellor Harvey Perlman said. How did Dan Cook, a 72-year-old booster whose name is on the team's practice field, take the news? "The Huskers are off the will," he told Huskerpedia.

George Gipp Exhumed from Michigan Cemetery The body of George Gipp, the Notre Dame football player whose death in 1920 became a rallying cry for a team and an American president, was exhumed recently from Laurium, Mich. The AP didn't find the reason, but I suspect it's related to a message board post on a Gipp family genealogy forum. "All my life I heard the story that my mother's mother Eva Bright, South Bend had dated George while he was at Notre Dame," writes Ellen Weeks Easton, who suspects Gipp is her grandfather. "My mother was born Dec. 19, 4 days after Geo. died. My mom was born out of wedlock, obviously, and back in 1920 it was hush-hush."

posted by rcade at 02:17 PM on October 12

Go back in time and realize that when girls got knocked up they didn't go around telling everybody. George Gipp's body is exhumed, and Ronald Regan stirs in his own grave. What -- he's thinking, "Damn...I'm next!"? The first quote seems crue, but it is brutal honsty. Second, if Strom slept with a black wman he wanted to ensave, who says Th Great Leader should not have an extra child. His politics does not include his crotch.
