Is ESPN Killing the National Hockey League by Influencing Public Attitudes? By creating and reinforcing an expectation of failure regarding the NHL, ESPN is shaping public perception and contributing to the “death” of the NHL in the United States.

Top ten sports brawls in sports history. It’s no secret that sports can get pretty heated at times, and intensity and aggression are prized intangibles that lead to success. Athletes are forced to compete at or near an emotional threshold, which they are occasionally pushed over. When that happens, the uglier side of sports is revealed, as gloves are dropped, mounds are charged and punches are thrown.

Dale Jr. docked 100 points and his crew chief suspended six races for what NASCAR says was obviously intentional cheating.

Dear Senator Brownback: Please refrain from using Peyton Manning as the quarterback in your football analogies.

The worst part of it is that he was right. He may have been better off just sticking to what he said and not being ashamed of it. But that's politics. Peytons on the way up, but I'm not sure it's a suitable time to place him above Favre. The man won a Super Bowl, as did Peyton, and is about to break something like 4 records this season. He won 3 strait MVP's in the 90's. Peyton definitely has the ability, but I disagree putting him above Favre.
Remember when he played for them?
You don't? How about Toronto Raptor Hakeem Olajuwon? Or Baltimore Oriole Reggie Jackson? Or even Philadelphia Phillie Ryne Sandberg?
Some things just don't look right...

Ricky Williams tests positive for marijuana again Dolphins running back Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the NFL until September, ESPN.com reported Friday. Williams was suspended last year for violation of the substance abuse policy and was eligible to be reinstated this month, but sources told the website that the league's medical advisors who oversee Williams' rehabilitation program recently notified Commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test. Williams had failed four drug tests previously.

Ex-players to picket HOF Some former NFL'ers, wanting to draw attention to the inadequate retirement benefits of some, and their dissatisfaction with the NFLPA leadership, are hoping to make a statement in Canton, Ohio this summer.

It doesn't matter what country we are playing in. It doesn't matter if they allow a team to expand into Canada. If you love the sport of football, you will watch. If it really did bother ya, you would watch it, and get over it. So its not the US, it's sports, and if your a true fan, it wont matter. By the way,Im not Canadian, Im a Fan.

Hell of a good move. I think he can pull it off. Why not start his own team, he has enough expirience to do it...right? Theres other current drivers starting teams, and he has the work done for him. All the sponsorship and money he needs. Doesn't he own over half of DEI already? So he's set. This is probably the make it or break it point for Dale Jr. If hes gonna live up to his Dad's name, he better do it now.
'Dear Mr. Dork ...' Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells tossed an autographed ball to one of his hecklers at Cleveland earlier this month. With an inscription.

Wouldn't the NHL be better off with half coverage on ESPN, rather than full coverage on VS which has very limited viewership? I also think that the lockout and lack of interest in hockey led to it's demise on ESPN, and not ESPN causing the NHL's demise. As before stated, this is the chicken and the egg argument, but it's hard to bet against ESPN, who covers EVERYTHING from the putt-putt world championship to dominoes. Oh yea, ESPN does have a passionate commentator, who was deeply involved with the sport, his name is Barry Melrose, hail the mullet!
