Falcons QB Michael Vick Indicted on Federal Charges; somewhat of a surprise, given that two weeks ago, most legal pundits familiar with the case said it was unlikely that Vick would face charges. Vick and three others are charged with violating federal laws against competitive dog fighting, procuring and training pit bulls for it and conducting the enterprise across state lines. The indictment alleges that Vick and his co-defendants began dog fighting in early 2001, the former Virginia Tech star's rookie year with the Falcons.

Down Goes De La Hoya "When I was boxing him, I said, 'Damn, it's easy hitting him in the face,'" said Floyd Mayweather Jr. after his split-decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya in one of the most anticipated title fights in years. "How'd he beat all those guys when it's so easy to him in the face?"

Anybody remember Steve Howe or Darryl Strawberry, as a recovering addict myself I know the importance of having "positive " people around you. If you for one second think that you are cured of this desease you will relapse. You can hang on for awile but eventually you will slip...... Good Luck to him no matter what he decides to do.........
Former Celtics guard Dennis Johnson dies at 52 Detailed information is still a little sketchy. Another news source quotes a compassionate and articulate coroner; "He is deceased and is in our building. He will be autopsied," said Mayra Freeman, a spokeswoman for the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office.

2007 is a good year for sheep MLB's uniform technology people haven't been wool gathering. There's a new cap in town -- a synthetic polyester blend that aims to remove long standing traditions like sweat stains with less, well, au jus. Bud Selig has been a trend ender in many respects, but this one may be the longest running tradition he's tackled. You will still be able to acquire the legendary wool caps, but if you want to dress like the pros, you've gotta go polyester.

Tommy Morrison Cleared to Fight More than a decade after he was indefinitely suspended following a positive HIV test on the eve of a 1996 fight in Las Vegas, that day is here. He has been cleared to return to the ring after passing a battery of medical tests.

Dog's Best Friend. In the middle of the Yukon Quest dogsled race, musher Aaron Burmeister stopped his sled to give mouth-to-snout resuscitation to a member of his sled team that had collapsed. The race is, for all intents, lost to Bermeister and his team, but sometimes, winning isn't everything.

Turner to coach Bolts. The man won two Superbowl rings as the O Coordinator in Dallas. However, he has a combined record of 58-82-1 as a head coach in Washington and Oakland. All of the people interviewed by the Chargers (to my knowledge) had at least one Superbowl ring as a player or coach. Did they pick the right one?

When Norv Turner was with the Cowboys he had future Hall Of Fame Players, I take nothing away from the Chargers they have the best running back in the NFL and a great defense but, Norv Turner is NOT a good Head Coach his record speaks for itself granted the Chargers COULD have another great year and if they made the playoffs Norv could get them to a Super Bowl ( He has two rings with Dallas ) but I think the real weakness in San Diego next year will be Phillip Rivers i.e. Ben Rothlesberger.............

Yeah it will be tough for him to get good fights.... I mean HIV is transmitted by blood or saliva... who is going to risk getting the desease that DOES eventually lead to full blown AIDS for a few thousand bucks or their name in the paper... remember when magic johnson came out and said he had HIV , he still played basketball after that but the players around him were a lot more careful...
Martin finds himself odd man out ... again Kevin Harvick comes from 7th in the final laps to win the Daytona 500 by .020 seconds. The ending was well worth waiting for. Congrats to Kevin Harvick and the Sportsmanship Award should go to Mark Martin.

I am glad that NASCAR let them "race" to the checkered flag... I know the caution would have been thrown if it was jimmie johnson leading.. mark made a Rookie move wnen trying to block kurt busch on the bottom he forgot about the cars in the high groove who where just as fast and coming like freight trains the bobble he made in the middle was just enought to lose momentum. I will be going to the AutoClub 500 this weekend , hopefully it will be more of a race i was really dissapointed with this years 500.........On another note, at the end of the race i expected mark martin to talk about the race and the finish not "when the caution flag came out we were in the lead" no mark when the caution flag came out you were gettin your assed passed at the finish line and losin 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS..........
Who's the Daddy? Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in Marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars - all in the same day. [I can't seem to get the original of this from SI, but this one includes an embedded YouTube link at the end]

Doping in Daytona Days before the NASCAR season begins at the Daytona 500, Michael Waltrip's crew chief and team director were suspended indefinitely after performance-enhancing substances were found in his car's intake manifold -- a property contained in jet fuel. "We're not going to go into any great detail, but it was a foreign substance that we feel should not have been inside the engine, and we'll leave it at that," said an official. The substance, called an oxygenate, boosts octane in the fuel and makes it run better at higher horsepower.

I grew up across the street from the Riverside International Raceway, site of the Winston Western 500. Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Pearson, Petty. Every weekend there was some type of racing there, now, yeah I will watch races on t.v. but thats about it NASCAR has taken something away from it, just doesnt seem as "special" to me anymore....... to many rules
I had a feeling this was going to happen..... Maybe this high profile coverage will open the eyes of the authorities , cause dog fights are happening all over the country... I agree with all the other comments he is a SICK FUCK
