Bolts zap Schottenheimer. It was inevitable. I thought it would happen sooner. With the level of talent on that team, there's no longer an excuse not to win it all. But did they wait too long? Are all the best candidates for the job already taken?

Peyton's won his. Phil Mickelson has won his. Who's next? The Sports Prof wonders which athlete now assumes the title of "Best Player Never to Win it All", and then asks if it really matters.

In my estimation Dan Marino or Alex Rodriguez would really fit that bill, but I think it's a matter of heart and refusal to be defeated. Tom Brady is a marginal quarterback that has the heart of a race horse in full stride. Simply, he will not be defeated. I think players like Vince Young and Reggie Bush are the future of this philosophy of heart. Vince will when a chamionship. Even if the Titans aren't the best team he will force them to be a championship team. In the case of A-Rod, he will in time. Dan Marino will,... when an emmy or something,... maybe.

Bitch ph.D.'s Heroine of the week Commentary on a NYTimes article on weight and fitness in women's sport:
Paris is a hell of an athlete--"last season as a freshman she became the first collegiate player, man or woman, to collect at least 700 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocked shots in a season"--and the only reason I've heard of her is because I clicked on a story about women and weight in the NYT? We've got to, as a culture, get our heads out of our asses. Courtney Paris oughta be better-known than Paris Hilton.* Maybe in four years, when she's playing for the WNBA, she will be.

First of all Courtney Paris will never be as famous as Paris Hilton. The only way that would be possible is if she made it to the NBA. Second, who cares? As long as she is successful and recognized in her sport it really doesn't matter if she is more famous than anyone else. Its apples and oranges. Third, I have always admired women in sports, problem is not enough people do. Fourth, who is Russel Crowe?
Lefty Answers Prayers of Football's Dirtiest Player Who would have ever thought the former dirtiest player in the NFL would have a guardian angel who swings a golf club?

Thank God for people like Phil. The NFL needs to have its own nonprofit that supports its past players. For Christ's sake it's because of them that they have the success they have today. What a sh***y way to repay those great players. I hated golf until today... Shame on the NFL. Mostly, shame on Jerry Jones.
Son Of A Bum! San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator and former Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons head coach Wade Phillips has been tapped to take over the reins of the Dallas Cowboys. Former Dallas quarterback Jason Garrett, who had also been interviewed, has been hired for an unannounced coaching spot.

Wade Phillips is an idiot. He said that Jerry Jones was a fellow football man. He's a yes man exactly what that A-hole Jones wanted. I never have liked the Cowboys. Now it's official, I hate 'em. If they go anywhere next year it won't last, They will eventually lose their talent and return to Detroit Lion status. Hopefully, Dallas fans will rise up and force Jerry Jones back to being an owner not a fake lousy coach.

One Toke Over The Line, Ron Mexico... Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick "reluctantly" turned over a water bottle to TSA agents at the Miami-Dade International Airport yesterday. Upon closer inspection, the bottle had a hidden compartment containing "a dark particulate" and emanating "a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana." Considering that Ron Mexico's had at least one TSA problem before, why would you even try to get something through security?

Chargers shut out Pats fans The San Diego Chargers have restricted the sale of tickets to Southern California residents only. The Bears are reportedly employing the same tactics for their game against Seattle. Bad sportsmanship or cunning strategem?

Carswell Bombers: Champs of a Forgotten Football Era Fifty years ago, military bases and other installations had their own football teams. None was better than the Carswell Bombers, a Fort Worth-based team that won national championships in 1951 and 1952. The team was built by offering Southwest Conference college players about to graduate a chance to join the reserve and avoid the Korean War. "The general was our buddy," said one player. "He was a big sports fan."

Maybe in a year or so, but not next year. Any team the lured him back would have to compensate the cowboys since technically he's still under Dallas' extention. No way Jerry Jones would let that happen. Absolutely right, because it wouldn't benefit him. Maybe Jones would do this in return for LT. Marty is great for building a team, but then you need a coach that can finish the job. Maybe they could hire two coaches, a regular season coach and a playoff coach. Marty needs to get this monkey off of his back. Aside from the fact that Smith should probably grow up.
