Belichick's cheating could lead to dark days for NFL. Gregg Easterbrook: "It would not surprise me in the slightest if, before the season ends, Belichick resigns, or is suspended, or is fired by Kraft, or even is permanently barred from the league."

Poll: Rooting for Bonds Divided by Race When it comes to rooting for Barry Bonds to become the home run champion, one factor stands out: race. An AP-Ipsos poll released Monday showed 55 percent of minority baseball fans want Bonds to set the record, while only 34 percent of non-Hispanic white baseball fans hope he passes Hank Aaron's record.

Saying that you "think" he cheated so you don't want him to break the record is "unAmerican". What the heck ever happened until innocent until proven guilty. I could actually care less if he cheated or not, there are spitball pitchers in the HOF and that was cheating. Where is the outrage over that. If Bonds were well liked by the sportswriters, I think it would almost be a non-issue. I can't wait for him to break the record. If he did cheat, baseball is getting what it deserves because after the strike, they turned a blind eye to the "possible" cheating that was taking place because "chicks dig the long-ball". If he isn't cheating, then he deserves it. Either way he is an HOFer in my book.
Five is a magic number : Roger Federer won his fifth consecutive Wimbledon championship Sunday, tying Bjorn Borg's record for most consecutive Wimbledon championships. The win over Nadal also marked the first time that Federer has needed five sets to secure a championship.

Do over! Billy Donovan wants out of his brand new 5-year, $27.5 million contract to return to the University of Florida, and it appears the Orlando Magic are going to allow him to leave. Rumor has it that former Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy could be Donovan's replacement.

Donovan would probably be another in a long line of coaches who were successful in college and sucked in the pros. You have to love a guy who says I want to stay at Florida forever, no wait, I want to coach in the pros, no wait, I changed my mind! Actually, if I were Florida, I would have said, take a hike. You didn't want to be here, we don't want you here. But of course, Florida caves in because they can't get anyone decent to coach them besides Donovan. Let the wimp go back and coach college because he definitely couldn't cut it in the NBA.
Ryan Glasper Sacked by Tom O'Brien "I'm redshirting," Glasper said. "No, you've been cleared by the doctor to play," O'Brien said. "You're choosing not to play." Glasper was shocked into silence. But O'Brien continued. "I hold the keys to what you do," the coach said. "We don't have to grant you a fifth year. Besides, I can't count on you." [via BSMW who has some more links]

Frank Thomas strikes out with the Television Bureau of Canada A commercial featuring new Toronto Blue Jay designated hitter Frank Thomas has been forced off the air. In the spot, Thomas swats a young boy off a bed in a pillow fight, an act the TBC deems too violent. Watch here on YouTube and decide for yourself.

"Rumor/theory about the future of the Buffalo Bills franchise..." WARNING: THIS IS JUST SPECULATION! Rumor has it that possibly Ralph Wilson (owner of the Bills) wants to move the Bills to Toronto, creating the first NFL franchise in Canada, therefore establishing his legacy. Furthermore, Tom Golisano (owner of the Buffalo Sabres) wants to build a new domed stadium in Buffalo, and the NFL will grant Buffalo an expansion franchise and superbowl.

Tradin' paint over control of DEI Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and his stepmother, Teresa, are locked in a battle for majority ownership of Dale Earnhardt Inc. Could the son end up leaving the race team his father built, and would he be better off if he did? One NASCAR commentator seems to think so.

Dale Jr. and Budweiser's contracts both expire at the same time so it would be pretty obvious that where ever Jr. goes, Budweiser will follow. If Jr. does leave DEI, look for DEI to become an after thought. I think DEI is really nervous right now and that is why they are basically hiring the whole family to work there. I don't know if it will work or not but maybe Jr. should just start DJI and work for himself.
Bolts zap Schottenheimer. It was inevitable. I thought it would happen sooner. With the level of talent on that team, there's no longer an excuse not to win it all. But did they wait too long? Are all the best candidates for the job already taken?

Peyton's won his. Phil Mickelson has won his. Who's next? The Sports Prof wonders which athlete now assumes the title of "Best Player Never to Win it All", and then asks if it really matters.

First off, I think that before someone is labeled as "can't win the big one", I think they should have played for at least 5 or 6 years. To say a player can't win the big one when he has only been in the league 2 or 3 years is absurd, especially in a team sport. There are many great players in every sport who hasn't won the big one, or even been there. Dan Fouts, Barry Sanders, Kevin Garnett to name a few. That doesn't define greatness. Now maybe in Tennis, it would matter or golf but in a team sport, one player doesn't win a championship. Jordan wasn't even close his first few years until they got better players around him.
Arenas On Kobe: "My Numbers Are Blowing His Out Of The Water" Gilbert Arenas has been putting up a lot of points this season and feels that his numbers compare well to Kobe Bryant's. "I'm glad what I'm doing is on national television so they can finally see what I did in the past; my 29 [points per game last season] is not a fluke. What I did in the playoffs is not a fluke. What I've done the last five years is not a fluke," Arenas said. "Everybody says, 'Oh, he's not better than this person, he's not better than that person.' But if you go year by year, number-wise, what's the difference between me and Kobe? He had Shaq. He got three rings. Other than that, my numbers are blowing his out of the water the first six years in the league.

Gilbert is blossoming into a great player. If you asked me even last year, who I would want on my team, I probably couldn't decide. Kobe is too much of a me first player where Gilbert is more of a team player. It will be interesting to watch them the next time they play. It seems to me that the Lakers would be better off trading Kobe for some draft choices and a few players. They play more as a team without him (just like the Sixers are doing without Iverson). Just remember that most (not all) great players have great ego's. As far as the R-E-S-P-E-C-T goes, give me a break. These players make millions of dollars, the only respect he should need is from home.
'Scuse me while I whip this out... Florida Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis arrested on suspicion of DUI after cops observe him get out of his car and urinate in the street in Miami. Personally, I'd have held off on drunken shenanigans until after I'd finished with my contract negotiations. Then again, that's just me.

The guy who wrote the article is a quack. No matter what, I have always watched football. I am a true fanatic for football. I like baseball and basketball in that order but I do not miss a Sunday Browns game no matter what. The same can't be said for baseball and basketball. I guess maybe because they are only 16 games, makes each one more important than the 162 for baseball and 82 for basketball.
