Favre angry that NFL turns its back on Robinson "I don't like the way the league has, in my mind, turned their back on him," Favre said.

Cancer is a POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT of smoking. STD's are POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS of having unprotected sex (sometimes protected). Being an alcoholic is only accomplished in one manner. By choosing to dring too much each and every day.

Carpe the Per Diem Before they got clobbered 63-9 by Clemson, Temple Owls' football players unanimously to donate their per diem checks, $1,500 in all, to the Fahmarr McElrathbey Trust Fund ... (mentioned in an earlier discussion).

vicious brawl with Florida International Saturday ("Join a Team Not a Gang Night," by the way, with 700 youth in attendance), Is that Ironic? or just a coincidence?

In 1956 the American Medical Association classified "alcoholism" as a disease and with good reason, it seems this arguement was settled some 50 years ago sunnyside, I find your attitude deplorably ignorant and your comment be rift of any sense of human compassion or understanding of the subject matter. You've obviously never known an Alki. Alcoholism is a choice, not a disease. Just like crack, heroin etc... Should an alcoholic get disability then? What about people who are addicted to cigs? Are they next? Soon everyone will have some type of diagnosed "disease".

Alcoholism is a disease I disagree with this assesment of drunks. People choose to drink initially. They become alcoholics because of their CHOICE to drink large quantities of alcohol on a daily basis. Nobody chooses to have CANCER or AIDS. A lot of people have a pre-disposition to addictions of all kinds, however choosing to induldge yourself should not be considered a DISEASE. Its just someone making poor decisions with their life, like a thief or a criminal. Calling alcoholism a disease is just an attempt to make people feel sorry for idiots. Its like feeling sorry for one of the guys from Jackass because they have a broken neck. What do you think happens when you intentionally hurt yourself? You get hurt.

Tyson considers fighting women And the circus continues...

Mike Tyson was good, but never great. When he finally fought someone who could hit him, he lost. He has no chin. In order to be a great fighter you have to be able to take a punch. Tyson has never been able to do that.

Joe Frazier is still fighting Ali, three decades later.

Over the years, Frazier has lost a fortune through a combination of his own generosity and naïveté, his carousing, failed business opportunities and a deep hatred for his former chief boxing rival, Muhammad Ali. The other headliners from his fighting days — Ali, George Foreman and Larry Holmes — are millionaires. But while Ali has benefited from lucrative licensing agreements and remains one the world’s most recognized and celebrated athletes, Frazier lives alone in an apartment one staircase above the gym where he and others train young fighters in a run-down part of town.

“But I guess, in a way, I’m rich, too. I have my family and I have a sound mind and a sound body, and after all of those brutal fights, I’m lucky to still have my eyesight.”

The left hook that Frazier knocked Ali down with in their first fight is still the hardest punch I have ever seen somebody take. He lifted Ali's feet up off of the canvas. Ali was clearly a better "fighter" than Frazier, but Frazier threw his punches with bad intentions. The fact that Ali made it to his feet after taking that shot shows a lot about his courage and determination. But still.... He got knocked the f' out!!! I think Frazier vs. Tyson, both in their primes, would be a pretty interesting match up.

Detroit Tigers Reach World You-Can't-Be-Serious A bottom-of-the-ninth three run homer by Magglio Ordonez sent the Tigers past the Oakland A's and into the World Series for the first time since 1984. To put this into perspective, the Tigers had one winning season the past 13 years and lost 119 games in 2003.

As a long time Angel's fan, I can see a resemblance between the Tigers and our last Championship ball club. The only diference being that Detroit has a bit better pitching and the Angel's had a bit more "pop". They just have the right balance at the right time of year.

Fox fires Steve Lyons for racially insensitive comment The veteran broadcaster, responding to a few comments in Spanish last night by booth partner Lou Pinella, said he wasn't "hablaing Espanol."

"hablaing Espanol" -- butchering the conjugation for the word "to speak" If Spanish speaking people got fired everytime they butchered the English language, then a large majority of the Spanish speaking people in the US would be un-employed. (Including my girlfriend)
